Buffalo Intros BSKBB15SV Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard

Buffalo Japan introduced the BSKBB15SV foldable keyboard for those who find on-screen keyboards on their phablets less than ergonomic. Measuring 149 x 95.5 x 16 mm (WxDxH) when folded and 297 x 95.5 x 7.5 mm unfolded, the keyboard features Bluetooth 2.0 keyboard-class compliance, which lets it pair with almost any modern Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or notebook. It features an English QWERTY layout, with a total of 83 keys. The keys feature 17 mm pitch and 2.2 mm travel (stroke). It includes a complementary stand that can hold most tablets. Available in black and silver color options, and slated for early December, it is priced around 7,035¥ (US $86).

Sony Announces VAIO Branded Notebook Keyboards and Mice

Sony announced VAIO-branded keyboards and mice in Japan, under its fall/winter collection. Designed for its fleet of notebooks and Ultrabooks, the peripherals feature minimalist design, but with colorful, designer fascias. The replacement keyboards can by installed into the notebooks/Ultrabooks at a Sony service center, and enhance the look and tactile-feedback of your notebook's keyboard. The mouse, on the other hand, uses Bluetooth to talk to its host, features three buttons including the scroll-wheel, and features colorful replaceable front-panels. Arctic Readies Bluetooth Variant of P402 Headset

Arctic is working on a wireless, Bluetooth-equipped variant of its P402 performance around-the-ear headset. With Bluetooth connectivity, the company is looking to target wireless devices such as Surface, iPad, the various Android tablets, and of course, the smartphone market. The wireless P402 will retain the shape and specifications of the original wired one, and with likely use of rechargeable NiMH battery, could keep its weight under 150 g (the wired P402 weighs 130 g including its cord and jack). The headphone component of the P402 features 101 dB sensitivity, 32 ohm impedance, while the microphone is -42 dB +/- 5 dB sensitive.

Gigabyte S1082 Windows 8 Tablet PC Unveiled

Gigabyte unveiled the S1082, a 10.1-inch tablet PC powered by Windows 8 (and optionally, Windows 8 Pro). Based on the x86 platform, the tablet is driven by Intel Celeron 847 dual-core processor clocked at 1.10 GHz, with up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory, and Intel HD 2000 graphics. Its 10.1-inch multi touchscreen packs 1366 x 768 pixels native resolution. Storage options include 320/500 GB HDD; or 64/128/256 GB SSD. Connectivity includes WiFi b/g/n, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3.5G WWAN; with HDMI and D-Sub display outputs; two USB 2.0 ports, 5-in-1 card reader, and 1.3 megapixel web-cam. Measuring 270(W) x 173(D) x 14.94(H) mm, it weighs 790~850 g (SSD/HDD). Its dedicated docking station includes additional battery and DVD SuperMulti drive. Expect this one to go for anywhere between $599 to $799.

Buffalo Japan Intros New Wired and Wireless Mice for Windows 8

Buffalo Japan introduced a fleet of new wired and wireless mice optimized for Windows 8, thanks to gesture-recognizing touch surfaces along the top, that augment the main buttons and scroll wheels. Among the products launched are the wireless BSMBB10N series, and wired BSMBU12 series. The BSMBB10N series mice are equipped with Bluetooth and NFC tags. The NFC tag lets you configure the mouse with an NFC-equipped Windows 8 tablet or Ultrabook by simply waving the mouse close to the host device, saving you the trouble of configuring Bluetooth or WLAN settings. Unpack, wave, use - it's that simple.

The BSMBB10N series mice are available in as many as six 2-tone color options, including blue, red, green, pink, orange, and gray. Measuring 60 x 35 x 100 mm (WxDxH), the mice weigh about 58 g. The primary sensor has a resolution of 1,600 DPI, its Bluetooth reception range is 10 m. Moving on, the company also launched the wired BSMBU12, which use common USB wired connectivity but retain the touch surfaces that let you perform gestures. These mice are available in six similar 2-tone color options to the BSMBB10N. The wireless, NFC tag-equipped BSMBB10N series mice are priced at 3,465¥ ($31), while the wired BSMBU12 go for 2,089¥ ($26).

ASUS Also Unveils the VivoBook S500 Notebook

ASUS also unveiled the 15-inch VivoBook S500 compact touch-enabled Windows 8 notebook, which joins the X202 or C200, and S400. A physical upscale of the 14-inch S400, the S500 starts at US $649.99, armed with Core i5 and Core i7 processor options, 4 to 16 GB memory options, integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, and 500 GB HDD storage that's cached by a 24 GB SSD. In addition to WiFi b/g/n, gigabit Ethernet, 1.3 MP web-camera, and Bluetooth, the S500 features USB 3.0 ports and HDMI display output. It features a compact wedge-shaped body that resembles (although not compliant of) the Ultrabook specification.

NEC Unveils LaVie Y Windows 8 RT Convertible Notebook

NEC unveiled the first full-fledged convertible notebook running Windows 8 RT, driven by ARM machine-architecture. The LaVie Y with its 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 pixel screen works as a tablet in your hands, or as a laptop. Its "lid" (the main component housing the touchscreen and central processing) spins almost 360° along the hinge of the base (with the keyboard, trackpad, and ports), letting you orient the device in a number of ways.

Under the hood is an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.30 GHz, with GeForce graphics; 2 GB of RAM, 64 GB SSD, and connectivity that includes USB 2.0, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 5-in-1 card reader, HDMI display output supporting 1080p video playback, and a 1.3 MP web-cam. Its battery can keep the device going for 8 hours before needing a recharge. Measuring 298 x 204 x 15.6 mm (when completely folded), the LaVie Y weighs 1.24 kg. It will be launched after October 26.

Gigabyte's U2142 Windows 8 Convertible Ultrabook Gets Detailed

Like pretty much all its rivals Gigabyte Technology is embracing Windows 8 and is preparing to release various PCs running Microsoft's latest operating system. One such PC is called U2142 and is actually a convertible ultrabook featuring a rotating 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) touchscreen. This upcoming 2-in-1 machine packs an Intel Core i3/i5 ULV processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, up to a 1 TB hard drive backed by a 256 GB solid state drive, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, optional 3G, USB 3.0 connectivity, and an HDMI output.

The U2142 will start at about $999 and should become available next month.

Fujitsu Esprimo All-in-One PC Lineup Unveiled

The last among Fujitsu's big Windows 8 product family is the Esprimo all-in-one/desktop series, including three lines: the class-leading Esprimo FH, Esprimo DH desktops, and entry-level Esprimo EH. The Esprimo FH series includes the 23-inch FH98, and 21.5-inch FH56. Both models have similar hardware options, including Core i7-3630QM quad-core processors, 8 GB memory, 3 TB HDD, BDXL drives, IPS LED touchscreens with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolutions, and TV tuners.

The DH series are loaded with conventional desktop hardware, including Core i7-3770 quad-core processor, 8 GB memory, 4 TB HDD, BDXL drives, and a variety of screen size and connectivity options. The Esprimo EH series includes entry-level 20-inch all-in-ones driven by AMD E-1200 APUs, with 4 GB memory, 1 TB HDDs, 1600 x 900 pixels screens, 802.11 b/g/n, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, and multi-format card readers. The three lines are expected to be launched on October 26.

Fujitsu Stylistic QH77 Convertible Unveiled

Fujitsu unveiled the Stylistic QH77, a 11.6-inch convertible, which works as a large-sized tablet PC, and as a notebook, when docked. Its 11.6-inch screen packs 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. Under the hood is an Intel Core i5-3427U (dual-core, 1.80 GHz) processor, 4 GB of memory, and 64 GB SSD. Windows 8 64-bit and Office Home and Business 2010 come pre-installed.

Connectivity on the Stylistic QH77 includes USB 3.0, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth, HDMI, D-Sub, and multi-format card-reader. The keyboard base adds physical connectors for additional USB 2.0 ports, the RJ45 jack for Ethernet, and D-Sub. As a tablet, the QH77 packs 4.8 hours battery life. The keyboard base, with its additional battery packs give it 10.7 hours to go on. With the base attached, it measures 302 x 203 x 26.1 mm weighing 1.7 kg. Detached from its base, it measures 302 x 195 x 12.7 mm, weighing 850 g. It is slated for October 26.

Fujitsu Arrows QH55 WiFi Windows 8 x86 Tablet Unveiled

Fujitsu unveiled its FMV series Windows 8 PC family, which includes tablets, convertibles, notebooks, and all-in-one PCs, all of which are touch-enabled to take advantage of the new operating system. To begin with, Fujitsu unveiled the 10.1-inch QH55 tablet. Based on the x86 platform, the QH55 is driven by Intel Atom Z2760 (dual-core, 1.50 GHz) processor, 2 GB memory, 64 GB SSD, Windows 8 32-bit, with Office Home and Business 2010 pre-installed. Its 10.1-inch screen packs 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. Measuring 264.4 x 169.4 x 9.9 mm (width × depth × height), it weighs 574 g. Connectivity features include 8 MP back and 2 MP front-facing cameras, micro USB, micro SDXC, 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, accelerometer, gyrometer, and stereo audio. It is slated for October 26.
