Shuttle Launches XPC Cube SH570R6, SH570R6 Plus and SH570R8

Today marks the simultaneous launch of three XPC cubes on the market on the European continent. The "XPC" series from the Taiwanese Mini-PC manufacturer has been impressing users since 2001 with its compact design and wide range of possible applications. The SH570R6, SH570R6 Plus and SH570R8 models are based on the Intel H570 chipset, which is suitable for Intel Core processors of the 11th generation (Rocket Lake) and 10th generation (Comet Lake). Shuttle states that the current top-performing model is the Intel Core i9-11900K with 125 Watt TDP, 8 cores, 16 threads, 16 MB cache and a turbo frequency of 5.3 GHz.

To match the comprehensive processor support, up to 128 GB of RAM, spread across four slots, can be installed. There are also very few upper limits when it comes to suitable mass storage devices. Fast NVMe SSDs can be fitted in the M.2-2280 slot and, thanks to the four SATA ports, so can the corresponding number of hard drives or SSDs. The R6 chassis provides space for two 3.5" data carriers (one internal, one external) and a 5.25" drive; the R8 model, by contrast, can be fitted with four internal 3.5" data carriers - with a corresponding adapter 2.5" formats are of course also suitable.

AZZA Announces a Luxurious Cube Case with Infinity Mirror ARGB - REGIS 902

AZZA, a leading brand of computer cases and accessories, introduces the REGIS 902. This luxury case is uniquely designed with a cube form factor, elevated above the surface by a premium aluminium stand, and has an infinity mirror addressable RGB front panel. The exterior is complemented with black tinted tempered glass panels and two brushed aluminium mesh panels with a touch of gold trim on the edges. ATX motherboard compatible, the REGIS supports up to 336 mm long GPUs and dual 240/280 radiators.

The REGIS has 3-sided black tinted tempered glass panels, two sides for displaying the system, and the front for featuring an infinity mirror addressable RGB which uses an ultra-thin lighting module. The addressable RGB can be controlled via the case button, or synchronized with any motherboard software. At the bottom, two anodized and brushed aluminium panels with large mesh openings complete the frame of the Regis. Each panel is mounted on snap pins for tool-less removal. In addition, golden trims on 4 of the edges highlight the luxurious look of the cube.

SilverStone Intros SUGO 16 Cube-Type Mini-ITX Case

SilverStone introduced the SUGO 16, a cube-shaped compact Mini-ITX case, designed for gaming PCs. Available in black (model: SST-SG16B) and white (SST-SG16W) variants, the case measures 200 mm (W) x 232 mm (H) x 280 mm (D), dry-weighing 2.66 kg. It serves up room for a Mini-ITX or Mini-DTX motherboard with up to two expansion slots. A cut-out in the front lets you easily slide in your graphics card, to which the case offers a maximum clearance of 27.5 cm (14.7 cm max height). The case gives you a choice of using either an ATX or an SFX PSU. When using an ATX PSU, the maximum CPU cooler height is 8.5 cm (enough for an AIO block or low-profile fan-heatsinks); but if an SFX PSU is used, you get room for up to 17.2 cm cooler height, which is plenty for tower-type coolers.

Using an SFX power supply also creates room for a single-fan radiator to be mounted along the case's front fan vent. The PSU bay opens out toward the front, hidden behind the front panel. An AC extension leads to a receptacle at the back. The rear has a 120 mm fan vent that can hold either a 120 mm rear exhaust fan, or a 3.5-inch HDD, or a 2.5-inch SSD (as mounts). Internally, there's just the one 2.5-inch bay. Behind the motherboard tray, there's a strategically located cutout letting you access the M.2-2280 slot that's typically located at the reverse side of the PCB for modern Mini-ITX motherboards. The SilverStone SUGO 16 is expected to go on sale later this week in Asia, at a price roughly equivalent to USD $90. It will reach Europe and North America in December.

Micron to Launch HBM2 Memory This Year

Micron Technologies, in the latest earnings report, announced that they will start shipping High-Bandwidth Memory 2 (HBM2) DRAM. Used for high-performance graphics cards, server processors and all kinds of processors, HBM2 memory is wanted and relatively expensive solution, however, when Micron enters the market of its manufacturing, prices, and the market should adjust for the new player. Previously, only SK-Hynix and Samsung were manufacturing the HBM2 DRAM, however, Micron will join them and they will again form a "big-three" pact that dominates the memory market.

Up until now, Micron used to lay all hopes on its proprietary Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) DRAM type, which didn't gain much traction from customers and it never really took off. Only a few rare products used it, as Fujitsu SPARC64 XIfx CPU used in Fujitsu PRIMEHPC FX100 supercomputer introduced in 2015. Micron announced to suspend works on HMC in 2018 and decided to devote their efforts to GDDR6 and HBM development. So, as a result, we are seeing that they will launch HBM2 DRAM products sometime this year.

AMD VEGA Cube is a Coffee Mug-sized Contraption with 100 TFLOP/s Compute Power

AMD VEGA Cube (working name), is an unannounced product by the company, which could see the light of the day as a Radeon Instinct deep-learning GPGPU solution. This [grande] coffee mug-sized contraption is four GPU subunit boards making up four sides of a cube (well, cuboid), with two sides making up the air channel, likely with space for a compound heatsink or liquid-cooling block, drawing heat from the GPUs lining the inner walls of the cube. The combined compute power of the VEGA Cube, hence, is 100 TFLOP/s (FP16), or 50 TFLOP/s (FP32, single-precision).

Each GPU board is similar in function to NVIDIA's Tesla P100 NVLink board. It has the GPU, VRM, and a high-speed interconnect. The GPUs here in question could be VEGA 10, a multi-chip module with a 25 TFLOP/s (FP16, 12.5 TFLOP/s FP32) GPU die, and 8 GB of HBM2 memory. There are four such GPU boards facing each other. AMD could deploy its much talked about NVLink-alternative, the GMI Coherent Data Fabric, which enables a 100 GB/s data path between neighboring GPUs. It remains to be seen if AMD makes an actual Radeon Instinct product out of this, or of it will remain a really groovy proof of concept.

Six 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes conduct heat from the CPU to the body, where it's dissipated. The case can handle thermal loads from the CPU, of up to 65W. Internally, the motherboard tray splits the case vertically into two compartments, one of which is dedicated to drives. The case uses an external power brick. The DB4 should look great in corner offices and living rooms.
