ASUS ROG Rampage IV Extreme Black Pictured

ASUS is working on a variant of its ROG Rampage IV Extreme motherboard for people who've had enough with the red+black color scheme. The Rampage IV Extreme Black, as the name suggests, dons a largely black appearance, with hints of dark-gray; use of red is reduced to a minimum. Components like alternate DIMM and PCIe slots use shades of gray to contrast black. It is otherwise identical to the original. The Black variant could be ASUS' competitive offering to EVGA X79 Black. Based on Intel X79 Express chipset, the ROG Rampage IV Extreme Black supports Core i7 processors in the LGA2011 package, up to 64 GB of quad-channel DDR3 memory, four-way SLI/CrossFire, and a suite of overclocker-friendly features. There's no word on pricing or availability.

EVGA Unveils GTX Titan LED Controller Software

EVGA unveiled its LED Controller software v1.0.0.11 for GeForce GTX Titan. Similar to the one that works for the GTX 690, the software tinkers with the voltage of the 2-pin connector that powers the glowy GeForce GTX logo on the top of the card. The software gives you either static manual control, or adjusts the logo's brightness according to GPU utilization, clock; or produce a groovy "breathing" effect. The tool is also compatible with older GeForce GTX 690 graphics cards.

EVGA Unveils GTX Titan HydroCopper Signature Series Graphics Cards

Even as every other AIC partner is under strict directions not to modify GeForce GTX Titan board design, NVIDIA pet EVGA released pictures of its upcoming GTX Titan Signature SC HydroCopper graphics card (model: 06G-P4-2795-KR), the first GTX Titan with a full coverage water block pre-installed. Co-developed by Swiftech, EVGA's block uses nickel-plated copper as its primary material, with a secsi black shroud running the card's entire length. In addition to the 7.1 billion-transistor GPU, the block cools memory chips and VRM components on the obverse side of the PCB. The reverse side gets a back-plate. EVGA did not disclose clock speeds, but the SC (super-clocked) brand extension suggests it ships with a factory-overclock. EVGA didn't disclose its price, but we expect it to be around US $1,300.

NVIDIA Forces EVGA to Pull EVBot Support from GTX 680 Classified

According to an Overclockers.com report, NVIDIA forced EVGA to remove voltage control, more specifically, support for its EVBot accessory, on its GeForce GTX 680 Classified graphics card. EVBot, apart from realtime monitoring, gives users the ability to fine-tune voltages, a feature NVIDIA doesn't want users access to. This design change was communicated by EVGA's Jacob Freeman, in response to a forum question a users who found his new GTX 680 Classified card to lack the EVBot header.

"Unfortunately newer 680 Classified cards will not come with the EVBot feature. If any questions or concerns please contact us directly so we can offer a solution," said Freeman. Hinting that NVIDIA is behind the design change, he said "Unfortunately we are not permitted to include this feature any longer," later adding "It was removed in order to 100% comply with NVIDIA guidelines for selling GeForce GTX products, no voltage control is allowed, even via external device." To make matters worse, Freeman said that EVGA has no immediate plans to cut prices of the GTX 680 Classified.

EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SuperClocked and GTX 650 Pictured

Here are some of the first pictures of NVIDIA partner-branded GeForce GTX 660 and GeForce GTX 650. The EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SuperClocked, pictured below, is roughly as long as the company's GTX 660 Ti and GTX 670 graphics cards. It uses the EVGA Signature cooling solution, which features on several of EVGA's GeForce GTX 660 Ti, GTX 670, and GTX 680 models. The box doesn't reveal much, except that the card only supports 2-way SLI, and packs 2 GB of GDDR5 memory.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 650, on the other hand, is much more compact. It uses a simple fan-heatsink to cool the GPU, instead of elaborate aluminum fin stacks. The heatsink appears to feature a spirally-projecting aluminum fin design, and is cooled by a 70 mm fan. The fan-heatsink is topped off with a shroud that spans the entire length of the card. Much like the GTX 660 SC, the box of this card doesn't reveal much. The GeForce GTX 660 and GeForce GTX 650 are expected to launch on September 12 (give or take a day, in view of the new iPhone launch).
