Ayar Labs Unveils World's First UCIe Optical Chiplet for AI Scale-Up Architectures

Ayar Labs, the leader in optical interconnect solutions for large-scale AI workloads, today announced the industry's first Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe) optical interconnect chiplet to maximize AI infrastructure performance and efficiency while reducing latency and power consumption. By incorporating a UCIe electrical interface, this solution is designed to eliminate data bottlenecks and integrate easily into customer chip designs.

Capable of achieving 8 Tbps bandwidth, the TeraPHY optical I/O chiplet is powered by Ayar Labs' 16-wavelength SuperNova light source. The integration of a UCIe interface means this solution not only delivers high performance and efficiency but also enables interoperability among chiplets from different vendors. This compatibility with the UCIe standard creates a more accessible, cost-effective ecosystem, which streamlines the adoption of advanced optical technologies necessary for scaling AI workloads and overcoming the limitations of traditional copper interconnects.

Corsair by d-Matrix Enables GPU-Free AI Inference

d-Matrix today unveiled Corsair, an entirely new computing paradigm designed from the ground-up for the next era of AI inference in modern datacenters. Corsair leverages d-Matrix's innovative Digital In-Memory Compute architecture (DIMC), an industry first, to accelerate AI inference workloads with industry-leading real-time performance, energy efficiency, and cost savings as compared to GPUs and other alternatives.

The emergence of reasoning agents and interactive video generation represents the next level of AI capabilities. These leverage more inference computing power to enable models to "think" more and produce higher quality outputs. Corsair is the ideal inference compute solution with which enterprises can unlock new levels of automation and intelligence without compromising on performance, cost or power.

d-Matrix Announces $110 Million in Funding for Corsair Inference Compute Platform

d-Matrix, the leader in high-efficiency generative AI compute for data centers, has closed $110 million in a Series-B funding round led by Singapore-based global investment firm Temasek. The goal of the fundraise is to enable d-Matrix to begin commercializing Corsair, the world's first Digital-In Memory Compute (DIMC), chiplet-based inference compute platform, after the successful launches of its prior Nighthawk, Jayhawk-I and Jayhawk II chiplets.

d-Matrix's recent silicon announcement, Jayhawk II, is the latest example of how the company is working to fundamentally change the physics of memory-bound compute workloads common in generative AI and large language model (LLM) applications. With the explosion of this revolutionary technology over the past nine months, there has never been a greater need to overcome the memory bottleneck and current technology approaches that limit performance and drive up AI compute costs.
