And finally some gaming benchmarks, the favorite review page for all gamers. Five popular titles are chosen to represent every game genre. Crysis and Modern Warfare for FPS gamers, Resident Evil 5 for adventure gamers, GTR Evolution and DiRT 2 for races and Dawn of War 2 for those who like to play RTS genre games.

In-game quality details for all resolutions are set to following:
  • Crysis v1.2 in-game benchmark: DX10, medium details preset
  • Modern Warfare II: high details
  • Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II: high details preset
  • DiRT2: DX11, medium details preset
  • GTR Race ON: maximum details, Level 1 AA
  • Resident Evil 5 benchmark - DX10, medium details
to be considered a solid gaming choice, the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor needs to at least beat its predecessor Phenom II X4 965. And it manages to do this, but just barely, with the exception of one or two gaming title that are optimized for multithreading. This means that although six core 1090T has the ability to go up to 3.60 GHz when few cores are loaded, average clock will be around 3.40 GHz when gaming. Of course, it depends on which game you are playing. If you're lucky and it supports multithreading you'll have processing power to throw around, but in general, Intel's Core i7 or even Core i5 750 are far better choices for gaming.
