Packaging
The same packaging as for the HCG-750M is used, with the only exception being that this one's model description is different. The front has the usual angled shot of the PSU along with the series description in nicely designed fonts that remind us of AC/DC albums (an, for the younger of you, Australian hard-rock band that shook the world in the 80s and 90s). A series of icons describing basic features of the unit can be found at the bottom. The 80 Plus Bronze efficiency and SLI certification badge are near the top-right corner.
This side has a useful scheme of all available connectors. There is unfortunately no mention on cable length, which meant that we had to take the measuring tape out.
Power input/output specifications and contact details for three different continents are listed on this side.
This will be your favorite side of the package if you want to figure out the unit's dimensions!
This side is full of icons and graphics. Three icons describe the unit's complete protections circuit, the LED fan, and the 16-pin sockets of the modular panel. The bottom-left corner also has a badge describing the five-year warranty that supports the unit.
The rear has multilingual feature descriptions and a series of badges we already came across on the other sides of the box.
Contents
The contents of the box are protected by a thick cardboard piece because Antec takes protecting the environment seriously, so they avoid using products that aren't so eco-friendly, like packing foam. Finally, the PSU is stored in a nice black bag with Antec's logo on it. This is a luxurious touch that some of you will appreciate, but we would instead prefer a pouch to store all unused modular cables in.
Besides the necessary modular cables, the bundle includes a warranty leaflet, a user's manual, a set of screws, and an AC power cord. Only the basics are included.
Exterior
The finish is good, and the red decals look very nice, enhancing the appearance of this unit's classic design well. The front has the on/off switch right next to the AC socket, while the rear only has the two fully sleeved native cables protruding out of a grommet that protects them from the enclosure's edges. There is also a small switch on this side through which you can toggle the LED light of the fan on/off. Finally, the specifications label is installed at the bottom of the unit.
The transparent fan looks nice, but having only two native cables looks even better.
Cable sleeving is of good quality, and the darkened wires assist in making the cables disappear inside a darkly painted case. We would of course prefer fully black wires, but Antec chose these hybrid ones for their own reasons.
