Bitspower Touchaqua Summit MS OLED Review

Value and Conclusion

  • The Bitspower Touchaqua CPU Block Summit MS OLED costs ~$100 from retailers such as Performance PCs for customers in the USA, as of the date of this article.
  • Good price for the feature set
  • Onboard temperature sensing and OLED display
  • Low coolant restriction
  • Integrated digital RGB lighting that is controllable by most motherboards
  • Easy cable management via a single cable for the OLED display and RGB LEDs
  • Relatively poor thermal performance
  • Separate versions needed for Intel/AMD socket compatibility
If you have read my previous two Bitspower CPU block reviews, you now know why I was trying hard to get them to lower prices on the Premium Summit M (which did go down from $150 to $130) and the Summit M w/OLED (unchanged at $150, but it does include two of their fancier fittings for the price). In particular, this $100 CPU block makes the Summit M w/OLED an especially harder recommendation as it shares a lot of the feature set for two-thirds the price. I personally believe the cost saving is worth it even considering the slightly worse performance, loss of AMD socket compatibility (or Intel, if going with the AMD version), and lack of bundled fittings. The lower coolant flow restriction is a plus point in favor of the Touchaqua Summit MS OLED, and the form factor is different enough to where the Bitspower style is not lost, either. It certainly is a block that costs less for Bitspower to make, and much of these savings have been passed on to the consumer.

Compared to other blocks, it is a tougher sell if you look purely at what a CPU block does, but add in the other features, some of which are hallmarks of recent blocks, such as the integrated RGB lighting, and it does merit the cost. Addressable RGB lighting that is compatible with all popular motherboard LED controls is a good point to make here, as you will not need to spend extra on proprietary controllers. The included temperature sensor and OLED display are taken directly from the more expensive blocks, including the Bitspower Summit M, and have been brought down to the $100 price range where it is rarely seen from an established brand, let alone any outside of China. Bitspower did the right thing bringing their Touchaqua brand to the western half, and this very CPU block, with or without the OLED display, is one that needs more eyes on it.
