CeBIT 2007: Corsair Review

Corsair introduces their DHX range of memory (silver) which targeted at the high-performance market, basically the XMS series with the new heatsink. The black Dominators are targeted at the highest-end ulltra enthusiast market and come with an appropriate price tag and performance.

The Corsair Survivor line of USB sticks is built to last. The casing is made from thick aluminum and waterproof up to 100m. This looks like the USB stick you would want to carry on your if you go to war. Also a GT version is planned which will have higher performance than the normal version, both will come in sizes of 4 GB and 8 GB. I can't wait to try to break one.

If you are concerned about the porn important business data on your USB stick, the Corsair Padlock has been engineered. If you do not enter the correct passcode the unit will not even power up, so it will not be visible to the system until unlocked. When disconnected, the unit will automatically lock itself. To avoid people crying about their lost data, Corsair will set up a lost password system via their website on which you have to register your USB key and password. Of course this only works if you do register. To prevent tampering, the PCB on the inside is coated with Epoxy.

This demo system consists of two AMD FX-72 processors, 2x PC8000 Corsair Twin2X2048 @ 2.2V, Corsair Nautilus 500 Water Cooling Kit, ASUS L1N64-SLI WS motherboard, 2x GeForce 8800 GTS in SLI, 150 GB WD Raptor and Corsair HX620W power supply. This setup is running to demonstrate that even such a powerful system can be powered by a Corsair 620W power supply. AMD actually recommends at least 700W for such a configuration.

Here you can see Corsair's "World's Fastest Product Memory" in action. The system is running with TWIN2X2048-10000C5DF modules at 1300 MHz. The timings are 5-5-5-18-2T @ 2.5V.

Designed for users who are planning to upgrade to Vista, but see themselves running out of memory, the Vista PC Upgrade Kits have been created. They come with 2x 512 MB DDR2 and a 1 GB ReadyBoost USB stick to further improve performance.
