It's not often that I see a $35 fan and say there is a place for it in the market. Funnily enough, this is now twice in a row I've said something similar and they both happen to be RGB fans too. The Seasonic MagFlow ARGB is the best pure performance RGB fan I've tested to date and costs $35 each or $100 for a set of three. In a pleasant surprise, Corsair manages to best Seasonic with the triple kit costing $90 while also including the iCUE Link system hub which sells for $60 by itself. This tells me the triple kit is heavily subsidized or, more likely, the system hub is just overpriced if you decide to buy it separately. This ends up prompting customers of Corsair's watercooling blocks, for example, to get Corsair fans as well to "save money" and thus end up in the iCUE Link ecosystem. It's a smart business move but not one I am necessarily happy with given it restricts you to a proprietary system. iCUE Link does have the benefit of easy plug-and-play with a variety of devices though, as well as software support over everything collectively. You can also add more fans, including others with even more RGB lighting, as needed, so I do see it being handy for system integrators or first-time builders. The QuikTurn mounting screws included with these fans is a further step towards this by reducing the time needed to install fans in a case or on a radiator.
If we were to treat these fans purely by themselves and not as part of the iCUE Link ecosystem then the $35 price point seems expensive—and it is—but still within the realm of competition from others, unlike the $50 iCUE Link QX120 RGB fans that is a different matter altogether. The RX120 RGB has significantly fewer RGB LEDs per fan and thus a lower number of lighting effects too, so if you prioritize a light show then this may not be to your liking. What you instead get is one of the best performing RGB fans on the market across the entire RPM range. Speaking of which, having a long RPM range of control with performance that scales tremendously is always a good thing too. It's also quieter than you might think, making these fans quite good from a performance/noise basis also. Knowing that the tests were done on a radiator means the RX120 RGB is likely to perform even better on air coolers or up against a restrictive case filter also. I do wish the individual fans were less expensive but the starter kit at least merits a conditional recommendation.
