Introduction
With memory prices continuing to plummet, now is a great time to be looking for memory upgrades as there is competition from both Intel and AMD, and the Red brand has thoroughly fixed the memory issues of generations past. No longer do users have to worry about memory compatibility or shopping for expensive AMD-branded kits. That isn't to say that there aren't still some impressively high-end AMD-branded kits to be had.
Corsair is a brand that needs no introductions. The California-based company has been a staple of the enthusiast community for decades, producing power supplies, peripherals, SSDs, coolers, and even entire pre-built systems. One of the brand's most storied and successful family of products is their high-performance memory kits. In keeping with that history of bringing cutting-edge components to the enthusiast market, Corsair is proud to introduce the Corsair Vengeance LPX 5000 MHz: the world's first-production 5000 MHz memory kit.
The Corsair Vengeance LPX boasts 2x 8 GB sticks at 5000 MHz with 18-26-26-46 timings and 1.5 V. The kit is validated on high-end MSI X570 motherboards to be a true plug and play solution.
Given the latency penalty that is incurred when memory speed exceeds 3600 MHz on Ryzen processors, there have not been many kits marketed for the Red brand that exceed the 3600 MHz mark. AMD has stated that the penalty can be overcome with sufficient memory frequency, and today I have the opportunity to put that to the test!
