Introduction
I would like to thank
Emotn for supplying the sample.
The Emotn N1 made a big splash when it was first announced as it is one of the very few readily available projectors out there that offers out-of-the-box support for Netflix, which is what nearly all the major brands in the segment tend to lack. While you will have to deal with 3rd party app stores and side-loading a version of the Netflix APK on those units, the Emotn N1 simply just works. On top of that, the brand offers the unit in two color choices: all white or all black.

Packaging
The unit ships in a brown cardboard box which hides the retail package and adds a second layer of protection. Emotn sells the unit over Amazon, so you should have no issue acquiring your own in your geographic location. The package design is heavily inspired by Apple products or those of other well known projector brands. Upon opening the box, you are greeted by a user manual and accessories box. The projector itself is sandwiched between two foam spacers as an additional protective element.
Out of the box, the first thing you will notice is the fact that the Emotn N1 housing is made of plastic, while many others employ metal materials instead. However keep in mind that Emotn N1 is also far more affordable and even with the material choice, the unit feels sufficiently sturdy.

The unit also ships with its own branded PSU which is capable of delivering 120 W of power. As it is not GaN based, it is already pretty bulky, but also being way too powerful for the unit doesn't help. In comparison, other projectors of the same resolution at the time of writing utilize GaN based 65 W units, which are far more portable. It could be that Emotn just has a limited number of power supply SKUs to increase its bulk buying power. At 400 grams it is also about twice as heavy as the competition's power supplies.
The included remote utilizes Bluetooth, so you don't need line of sight. The housing in its classic remote control shape is a bit bulky but feels sturdy. It features a navigation ring with center action button. On top of that, there are volume controls, keystone and settings buttons as well as three pre-programmed ones for Netflix, Disney Plus as well as YouTube.
