Thank you to FSP for providing the review sample!

FSP has been around for ages, with the company being founded in 1993. From their humble beginnings where they helped develop the ATX form factor for PSUs alongside Intel, they have since grown to be a major manufacturer of not only power supplies for numerous electronics but also CPU coolers, cases and case fans. While they lack the market presence of some of their competitors, this has begun to change as FSP continues to grow and evolve thanks in part its reputation for excellence.

The CPU cooler being reviewed today is the FSP MP7 Black. This dual-fan dual-tower air cooler has a lower height profile of 153 mm while also using an offset design to improve not only case compatibility but memory clearance as well. It's all black design, while simple, looks elegant and the lack of ARGB LEDs will likely prove a boon for those tired of the illuminate everything craze. Add in an affordable price point and it certainly could be an attractive option, but before we get to that, let's take a closer look!

Packaging

The front of the box shows off the MP7's top plate with its brushed black aluminium finish with angular accents to add visual flair. Meanwhile, the left side details some features like a 153 mm max height. As for the back it has all the specifications listed along with a mechanical drawing of the heatsink and fans.

Looking on the right side, all there is to see is a reminder to visit the FSP website for further information in various languages. Finally, the top of the box just has the FSP logo and nothing else.

The internal packaging is foam, and it certainly makes me happy to see it. The cooler is encased in foam with the mounting hardware located in a smaller box that sits on top. While the amount of foam is not excessive it does give the impression that its of higher quality during the unboxing process. While it certainly doesn't help performance or anything really it still brings a smile to my face over seeing more cardboard.

The mounting hardware is incredibly simple but robust with everything you need for the installation process including two screwdrivers. As for the supported sockets, FSP lists Intel's LGA1200, LGA1700, and LGA1851 alongside AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets.

Common parts supplied for mounting include:
  • 4x Intel LGA1200 spacers
  • 4x Intel LGA1700 / LGA1851 spacers
  • 4x Intel mounting screws
  • 4x AMD spacers
  • 4x AMD mounting screws
  • 2x 120 mm fans
  • 2x AMD mounting brackets
  • 1x Heatsink
  • 1x Universal Intel mounting bracket
  • 1x Intel backplate
  • 1x Tube of thermal paste
  • 1x Manual
