Introduction
Founded in 2002, Rapoo is a gaming peripheral and accessories company based in China. The ambidextrous VT9 Air is the latest addition to Rapoo's VT9 series. Its main selling point is its ability to pull off true 8000 Hz polling in both wired and wireless operation. In order to facilitate satisfactory battery life at these higher polling rates, the VT9 Air comes with a massive 800 mAh battery, yet weighs no more than 61 g regardless, without having to resort to externally visible holes for weight-saving purposes. Rapoo cites up to 160 hours of battery life, at a polling rate of 1000 Hz. On the hardware side, PixArt's PAW3395 sensor is used alongside Omron switches rated for 60 million clicks for the main buttons. The feet are made of pure PTFE, and a set of replacement feet along with a set of grip tape are included in the box. The usual customization options are found within the software. The VT9 Air is available in translucent white/blue or translucent black.

Disclaimer:
On its original firmware, the VT9 Air suffers from very high click latency, among other issues. The latest firmware (110/109) fixes most of these issues, which is why applying it is strongly recommended. All assertions made in this review are only valid in relation to said firmware.
