Scythe's Katana 4 CPU cooler comes in a very small box measuring 18.5 cm in length, 11.5 cm in width, and 12 cm in height, which does not including the lip. The box is 16 cm tall with the lip. The front of the box is covered in a full-sized image of the cooler and describes a few of its features. The left side lists all included items and the CPU sockets the cooler supports. The back covers the cooler's warranty information in various languages.


The right side describes the cooler's key features, such as the new clip system for easier installation on all sockets. The top of the box covers the new Aero Tuning Fin Structure (A.T.F.S) technology and the cooler's orientation on AMD systems.

Scythe's packaging for the Katana 4 is minimal at best. Only the simple box and a few foam inserts protect the heatsink. While I prefer to see better packaging, it should suffice since the box is designed to hang on store shelves rather than being shipped directly. Still, it would be nice to see slightly better packaging with coolers to come.


The Katana 4 supports all modern CPU sockets, and everything one would expect is included to make sure of it. Its extremely simplified mounting hardware is interesting since it uses the New Generation Clip System (N.G.C.S) - looks like this cooler will be extremely easy to install. I for one am glad to see this development as there are also less parts to keep track of.
