A Look Inside
Before reading this page we strongly suggest to take a look at
this article, which will help you understand the internal components of a PSU much better.
Removing the casing we noticed again the long heatpipes that cool the primary and secondary heatsinks. The OEM of ZM1000-HP Plus is
Enhance Electronics.
As usual the first part of the EMI/transient filter is located on the AC receptacle with two Y and two X capacitors. The second part on the main PCB is equipped with two coils, two X and two Y capacitors and an MOV. The transient filter has more than the necessary components something that of course is very good.
The bridge rectifier is cooled passively by a dedicated heatsink. In the APFC stage we find two mosfets and the boost diode. The main capacitors are provided by Rubycon (270μF, 420V, 85°C). As main switches two
32N50C3 mosfets are used.
The combo PFC/PWM controller is a Champion
CM6802 and the protections IC is a
PS232S. Both are located on a vertical daughter-board that resides right behind the modular PCB. We also found an
A6062H on the main PCB. This IC is the standby PWM controller.
In the secondary, synchronous design is used for the generation of +12V, so four
AOT480 mosfets are here. For the minor rails, passive design is used and four
STPS60L45CW SBRs handle the job, a pair for each of the 5V and 3.3V rails. On the far end of the secondary heatsink a lonely
MBR1060 along with a near Nippon Chemi-Con capacitor handle the 5VSB. The PSU does not use group regulation despite the presence of only two toroidal coils. The big one is for +12V and the smaller one is shared by 5V&3.3V. Finally all filtering capacitors in the secondary side, besides the afore-mentioned Chemi-Con, are provided by Teapo and are rated at 105°C.
On the modular PCB three capacitors (two Teapos and a Nippon Chemi-Con) filter the outputs and further decrease ripple.
Soldering quality on the main and modular PCB is quite good.
The cooling fan, similar to the ZM850 HP-Plus, is provided by Zalman and its model number is ZF1425ATF (1740 RPM, 94.3 CFM, 31.6 dBA).
