Zhiyun Logo

A gimbal is a handheld device that resembles a selfie stick, but has nothing to do with it. Regardless of how tough the conditions may be, it is there to help filmmakers or photographers take stable images and videos. If you are looking for a professional outcome for shots that have your smartphone, action camera, or DSLR/mirrorless camera move vertically or horizontally, or a combination of both, a gimbal along with some of its accessories will help you achieve it easily.

Since its beginnings in 2014, Zhiyun has been producing gimbals for DSLR/mirrorless cameras and smartphones, as well as action cameras. We previously reviewed the Zhiyun Crane 2 and were thus aware of this brand's product quality and software, but none of its accessories. The Crane 3 LAB was first introduced in 2018 and is currently their gimbal flagship.

The Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab is compatible with most DSLR and mirrorless cameras available on the market today—it features integrated wireless FHD image transmission, has focus, zoom, and touch controls, and an all-inclusive control panel. However, its most fascinating feature is the multi-functional handle. This gimbal comes in two versions—the Creator's package for $1,199 in the States or €1,299 (incl. VAT) in the EU, which includes all the necessary equipment for professional filmmakers, and the Standard package for $899 or €999 (incl. VAT), a more affordable option since it only consists of the Crane 3 and no optional accessories.
