Hello there,
Previous post : https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/surround-problems-with-6800xt.288694/page-2#post-4810537

So I have a problem:
1) I have a vsx-930 (input) plugged with HDMI to my 3070 (output)
2) 3070 DP (output) ==> Screen 27"
3) Then vsx-930 (output) ===>screen 27" HDMI : If I don't plug this cable I have no sound on windows

Desktop is 1440p 144hz, I need to duplicate monitor because extend is annoying the cursor is outside and I lost it, but it's working great in extend mode

- I have only 1080p max and sometime fullscreen is bugged, displaying game in 1080p meanwhile the desktop is 1440p so big blank
- the game is working great in 1440p
- the game is working in 1080p(max res I can choose) in bordeless windowed mode 100% of the screen

Maybe If use a dummy output It would work better

Thank you,

Is VSX-930 updated to the latest firmware?

Other than that... I would not screw around and just hook up the Pioneer via optical and use the screen directly.

Used to the same thing with my AMD 390X as the DP was 4k60Hz were as the HDMI was 4k30Hz. Same with no sound if the HDMI was not plugged in to the monitor.

Maybe try unplugging every thing and setup the DP 1st make sure it's set how you want it then plug in the HDMI cables.

But i remember there being some issue(s) one was a driver issue and the other is like you talk about some thing that your describing and just dealt with it. This was over a year ago so.

This was with Yamaha AV's too and not pioneer.

Maybe there is a update for your receiver ?, their should be a way to tell what version firmware it's on, chances are a look on youtube might help with that.

I all so tried Active adapters too which i got the same results.

If you want to use optical and have any of the dolby or DTS signals passed through you need to enable bitstreaming in your audio software to pass the DD, DTS signals strait to the AV Amp to decode

but the problem is the amp only has a 1080p output I have the same amp

I was thinking that to due to being a 2015 model but i believe it does up scaling to 4k just like my Yamaha RX-v667 does which i am currently using at 1080p - 4k. were it defaults to 1080p but i can use the 4k upscalled option which needs manually selected.

BUT i have PIP with my monitor so i could display them both and select them.

So maybe it's not 4k being the issuer but the odd 1440p resolution.

Were like my Yamaha TSR-5830 will default at 4k being a little newer but don't use it as the 667 is a slightly more powerful AV.

Every time i go to the pioneer site my browser is putting a red flag up so my info is from else were

this is the one he's speaking of right ?

You should do, I quickly checked the VSX-930, although it does not specifically say DTS Audio, its does say DTS-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio in spec sheets.
The DTS-Dolby options should already be ticked when using SPDIF, although if its a Realtek, its possible passthrough is fully disabled.

You can select one of the formats and press test to see if the optical out device supports passthrough, and the format.
HDMI-DP uses a readback EDID to populate capability, whereas SPDIF uses manual tick boxes.

just pass sound over HDMI. better than "fight" with realtek drivers on mobos, or you can have 7.1 or 11.2 over HDMI
