The Aorus Gen4 AIC SSD is a solid-state drive in the Add-In Card form factor, launched on September 13th, 2020. It is only available in the 2 TB capacity listed on this page. With the rest of the system, the Aorus Gen4 AIC SSD interfaces using a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 connection. The SSD controller is the PS5016-E16-32 from Phison, a DRAM cache chip is available. Aorus has installed 96-layer TLC NAND flash on the Gen4 AIC SSD, the flash chips are made by Toshiba. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. Thanks to support for the fast PCI-Express 4.0 interface, performance is excellent. The Gen4 AIC SSD is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 15,000 MB/s and 9,500 MB/s write.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 1248 USD. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Aorus guarantees an endurance rating of 850 TBW, a relatively low value compared to other SSDs.
