Samsung Unveils the S27D590C 27-inch Curved Monitor
Samsung Electronics introduced the 27-inch S27D590C Full HD Curved Monitor designed to enhance visually compelling entertainment content. The advanced display creates a more immersive viewing experience through its curved design and innovative features.
"Our new, 27-inch curved monitor takes movie watching and gaming to new heights from the monitor's unique curved screen and comprehensive entertainment features, to the incredible picture quality and the impressive sleek design," said Seoggi Kim, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "The S27D590C embodies our singular focus to create a truly unforgettable entertainment experience."Ultimate Viewing Experience
The curvature of the S27D590C improves the viewing experience in comparison to traditional flat screen monitors as the screen boasts nearly uniform viewing distances from the center of the screen to its edges. This curvature matches the natural curve of the human eye and makes it easy for the viewer to completely immerse themselves in games and movies.
Additionally, the screen's curvature creates a wider field of view and greater sense of depth, which enables viewers to enjoy a panoramic view and gives the screen a 3D-like effect. The 3D effect is particularly apparent when enjoying first-person perspective games, such as racing and flight simulators, avatar-based adventures and shooters.
With an ultra-wide viewing angle of 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically, the curved monitor's vertical alignment (VA) panel optimizes the viewing experience from any position and minimizes picture distortion. In addition, the S27D590C's Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio technology delivers a high contrast ratio of 3000:1 and 350 cd/m2 brightness help produce life-like images with deeper blacks, pristine whites and brighter colors.
Optimized for Entertainment
The integration of enhanced entertainment features takes gaming and multimedia content experience to the next level. The monitor comes fully equipped with built-in 5-watt dual speakers that deliver high-quality stereo sound as well as a game mode function that can be quickly activated with a simple touch of a button. The game mode intelligently detects on-screen changes and corrects blurry images, enhances colors and alters contrast for improved visibility of in-game action.
The monitor has a clean and minimalist look, ensuring viewers enjoy the enhanced viewing experience of the curved screen without any distraction. Its sophisticated design makes pictures seemingly float in mid-air, captivating the viewer instantly. Users can also easily adjust the screen angle using the tilt screen function to minimize glare and reflection. The monitor also supports 100×100 mm VESA standard brackets for stress-free wall or table mounting.

24 Comments on Samsung Unveils the S27D590C 27-inch Curved Monitor
Full HD resolution: Not cool
For gaming and movie watching, 27" @1080p is still acceptable and even more practical (e.g. in-game texts are easier to read). However, I wouldn't recommend it for professional use because you don't get the extra work space that 1440p+ can offer.
Mind you, I'd much prefer to see native contrast quoted. :)
I could see 50+ were it might be a plus but even then you have to be positioned at sweet spot were flat panel you can be off more , angle view .
You sit close to a desktop screen so curved will be a positive thing.
At Least it is PLS given the viewing angle.
I seem to recall seeing pictures of this curved Samsung display before the first Samsung 4K monitors (U28D590D) was released to the market,.....which was a while ago.
To each his or her own but to me this whole curved display thing is a bit of ridiculous marketing. I have two different 4K monitors of different sizes, which, I really like and serve a specific purpose / niche but this,....... I have no use for this.
Normally I prefer to actually test something out and see for myself before passing judgment on something but I'm just not with it.
I kind of feel like the market understands that they cannot or can no longer ask unreasonable prices for 1920x1080 displays so they are trying to think out of the box to get such displays to command higher prices again. I'm not saying I have a problem with 1920x1080 monitors of this size because I don't and I still use such monitors. I'm just saying it feels like a bit of a cash grab,....and I don't even know the price.
Edit:
So I'll just say that this is probably best priced at something under ~$200 USD. Anything more then that is inflated needlessly IMO because a 1920x1080 monitor of this size shouldn't cost more then that.
Theres a lot of competition when it comes to monitors these days & Dell's are getting increasingly popular with the average joe and that seems to be the brand they look to these days & Dell monitors aint bad at all! the 24" ultrasharps are well priced.

It just seems like its old news at this point or that they should have had the product on the market long ago if they were going to release it in the first place rather then simply show it off as a proof of concept.
Either that or Samsung doesn't really think people want the product,......maybe,...
The monitor also supports 100×100 mm VESA standard brackets for stress-free wall or table mounting.
