GIGABYTE Announces the GeForce GTX 1070 WindForce 2X

GIGABYTE announced its cost-effective custom-design GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card, the GTX 1070 WindForce OC (model: GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD). The card features a simpler WindForce 2X cooling solution than the WindForce 3X the GTX 1070 G1.Gaming ships with. This cooler features a more compact twin aluminium-fin stack heatsink, that's ventilated by a pair of 90 mm fans, which stay off when the card is idling.

The card also serves up a small factory overclock of 1582 MHz core, 1771 MHz Boost in "OC mode" and 1556 MHz core, 1746 MHz Boost in "Gaming mode," against NVIDIA reference clocks of 1506/1683 MHz. The memory is left untouched at 8.00 GHz. The card draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0b, and one dual-link DVI. We expect this card to be priced closest to the $379 baseline NVIDIA set for this SKU, among GIGABYTE's GTX 1070 lineup.

I'm just waiting for any cards that are both available and close to the MSRP. Right now the only cards available locally are the top of the range models which are close to, or more than the already overpriced FE cards...

As usual, never get to see the side profile of the card, the only view that matters.

As long as the card performs better than the competition, is whisper quiet and is reliable enough (ball bearings etc.), who gives a shit what the hell a card looks like? Kids these days... :shadedshu:

Regards,
I really do miss the old Gigabyte GeForce 970/980/980 Ti xtreme cooler design. It was the best looking cooler gigabyte ever came out with. The new Xtreme Edition does not appeal me as much.

I am holding off till I can get this for $379 maybe with a small rebate.

Why does it bother you so much if someone gives a shit about looks?

seggbizoLooks pretty damn disgusting imho.
While aesthetics are a nice touch, what truly matters is the performance of the card...

This is...ummm...Hmmm...Alot different than what I was expecting when I saw the name. Alot of real-estate for just two fans and an interesting design. Wonder how well it performs (Just the cooling solution)?

I am sure temp will be slightly better then FE.
Now that Radeon 480 has finally caught up with last generation 970/980. I think 1070 is an excellent investment if we can find it for MSRP.

My next card definitely. they solved the shroud blocking the airflow problem that i had with it, 399 seems almost reasonable, i expect it to drop to 330 later this year. In the next versions the fans should be 100 mm instead. this would lower the rpm by 500, and there for noise. but its fine as is also.

The price is best buy, but the look i must say .........it's the ugliest videocard i have seen in my life, and i buy computers since 1997.

That shroud is bigger than it needs to be, why not just leave the edge of the card open instead of trying to enclose the fans.
That limits the cases it can be installed in.
