Two ASRock Z270 Motherboard Packages Smile for the Camera

Ahead of their Q1-2017 launch alongside the 7th generation Core "Kaby Lake" processors, the boxes of two premium ASRock motherboards based on the upcoming Z270 Express chipset smiled for the camera. These are the ASRock Z270 Gaming K6, and the Z270 Pro4, or at least that's the best we could read through the blur. The Z270 Gaming K6 could be a premium offering, while the Z270 Pro4 could be an entry-mainstream one.

Just as Intel launched both the 6-series and 7-series chipset for the LGA1155 socket, and the 8-series and 9-series chipset for the LGA1150 socket; the Z270 could be Intel's second platform for the LGA1151 socket, in being compatible with both the upcoming 7th generation Core "Kaby Lake" processors, and the existing 6th generation Core "Skylake" ones. Existing 100-series chipset motherboards will support "Kaby Lake" chips with BIOS updates.

UbersonicDamn so despite Z170 arriving last week it's now time for Z270.

I really hope Zen is the resurrection AMD is hoping because I'm really getting tired of Intel's milking...
Try closer to 1 year ago, ark.intel.com/products/90591/Intel-GL82Z170-PCH , www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=first%20z170%20motherboard .

Which doesn't surprise me at this rate, they've been doing new platforms almost yearly for a long long time now. If AMD had faster development they'd be doing the same thing. If we see anything from Zen, hopefully it's true competition to most of Intel's lineup at least.

Z87 worked with Devil's Canyon with BIOS updates or you could buy Z97 with out-of-box support with some minor extra features, seems Z270 is going to be doing the same thing. Not like you're forced to buy Z270 for Kaby Lake...not sure what all the fuss is about. Forward progress is forward progress, plus the fact that actual details about what the Z270 chipset brings to the table is quite sparse and vague...so I wouldn't be too worried and definitely not frustrated about it. ;)

Another year, another new platform. Though this time, Skylake platform can take in the new CPUs.

I've heard very little about the new chipsets though. It makes me feel like Intel is releasing the new chipset for the sake of change.

I wonder what additional features this will have I hopping for some additional thunderbolt 3 support at the chipset level.

Oh no I would never be sarcastic on a forum. This is serious business right here.

Looks like we will see more Black/White colour scheme with the Z270 series boards from AsRock that's not tagged gaming :)
