ASUS ROG Launches Partnership with ACRONYM on Special Edition Zephyrus G14

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today launched a collaboration with ACRONYM, a leading technical apparel design agency, to create a special edition ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop that melds top-of-the-line hardware with a radical new vision for what technology can be. Available for sale worldwide starting today, this device is based on a design concept grounded in Errolson Hugh's vision of a more empowered user: not just a gamer, but a thinker and a creator.

ACRONYM 's co-founder Errolson Hugh has been a pioneer in the technical apparel industry since the company's founding in 1994. In the 26 years since, their agency has built an extensive design portfolio dedicated to fusing singular style with the latest technology. Whether they're designing product lines for Nike and Arc'Teryx, virtual video game gear for Square Enix / EIDOS, or creating clothing under their own flag, ACRONYM has a proven track record as a visionary in the apparel industry with a commitment to sourcing top notch materials to create utilitarian designs that go far beyond style.
On ACRONYM 's design approach, Hugh says:
"We try to break the expected relationship with a product to make the user feel more aware of the product as a tool, and make them more active and engaged with it. It's too easy to become complacent toward the technology we use and let into our lives, and that can make us passive recipients of information, and thus less creative and less empowered."

Hugh brought in long-time collaborator, designer David Rudnick, whose studio, Terrain, is sought-after by industry leaders in fashion, music and the arts for their visionary approach to building visual systems that require a completely original aesthetic. Together, Rudnick and Hugh designed and prototyped a new design language from the ground up, including bespoke typefaces and material treatments, touching every aspect of the ROG Zephyrus G14.

This forward-thinking approach made ACRONYM a natural design partner for the Republic of Gamers. ROG is committed to making premium gaming hardware that's powerful enough for pro-level work and play, while also being customizable enough that every gamer can express themselves. ACRONYM 's designs consistently embody their belief that aesthetic expression is a form of freedom. Through style, audiences can share their story, their way.

Pushing the Limits of Engineering
No device better epitomizes the convergence of style and technology than the ultraslim Zephyrus G14. With its title as the most powerful 14" gaming laptop on the market, the G14 is well-equipped for both everyday multitasking and gaming, and engineered with high-end materials lightweight and resilient enough to travel anywhere-the ideal canvas for ACRONYM 's first gaming hardware design.

Go anywhere. Do anything.
On a pure component level, the Zephyrus G14 boasts a punchy 8-core 16-thread AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and a potent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, which gives it the power for content creation, like editing videos or streaming, and lets it blaze through tons of modern titles. It also features a slick IPS-level display that's PANTONE Validated for color accuracy and boasts Adaptive Sync variable refresh rate technology for ultra-smooth gaming.

That the device manages to pack this considerable power in a 14-inch chassis less than 20 mm thin takes premium to a new level. The Zephyrus G14 is crafted from high-end materials, from its magnesium alloy deck to its aluminium lid, that allow it to be as light as it is strong. Visually, it's also set apart by its one-of-a-kind AniMe Matrix LED display that offers gamers and creators a new platform to show off custom animations, text effects, and audio visualizers.

Redefining and expanding premium gaming
The ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 ACRNM RMT01 builds from this base and enhances it with several distinct visual features. The collaboration pushed the limits of what's possible, using custom materials, etching, machining, specially developed paints, and two completely original typefaces to bring ACRONYM 's vision to life.

Precision etchings along its sides reinforce the notion that this is a precision-crafted tool that also took great technical care to make. While its carbon black surfaces are sleek enough to blend into any environment, a closer look reveals striking touches, schematic markings, and iconography that invite curiosity. Every detail on the laptop was given consideration; even the AniMe Matrix is equipped with eight ACRONYM -designed animations exclusive to this device.

ACRONYM addressed every point of contact between the user and the machine. Even the device's packaging is unique, designed to fully follow through on ACRONYM 's philosophy of sustainability and functionality. Everything from the box to the unique ACRONYM Airpak laptop sleeve is designed to be reusable and recyclable. Altogether, the ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 ACRNM RMT01 represents a bold new frontier in gaming technology, fusing next-gen style with next-gen hardware for the next generation of gamers.

The ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 ACRNM RMT01 was built to satisfy the most dedicated gamers and tailored by ACRONYM to meet the needs of the next generation of creative professionals. ACRONYM and ROG are proud to take this first step together toward a radical new vision of what users' experience of what hardware and personal devices can be.

Apart from the keyboard it looks good IMO, not like the damned musclecar-transformer style a lot of gaming laptops has. And 14" is the perfect size for a laptop IMO.

Just sawthetiny perforations, that I do not like, neither the geaphics on the lid.

You have an issue with people using small notebooks? My current one has a 12.5" screen...

You can get the "regular" non fugly version. The perforations is because there's a model with some weird LED effects.

I think they should stay in designing clothes for the Deus Ex series, because their real life products are laughably overpriced (most of their stuff costs 1-2k USD) and just... Meh, at best. But then you have their pants, which make you look like you pooped yourself and are walking around with about 10 kilos of literal crap in your pants. The only people I've seen wear their clothes are edgy wanna-be-Adam Jensen teens/early-20s and they look like a joke. Just like the whole brand is. :D
It's a shame that to this day, ASUS can't get away from their ultra-cringe 1337 G4M3R h4xx0r branding and PR strategy, because the Zephyrus G14, aside from the aestetics, is a very good product. As much as I like 'gaming' laptops, I can't walk into a meeting at work with something that is barfing RGB everywhere and has edgy g4m3r iconography on it...

seems a bit over priced. But I would love that keyboard for video edit work flows on the go, this would be fantastic. just needs an Intel Tiger lake inside with a 3060 or 70 nvidia for that price. amd fans over hype and bash Intel for dumb reasons, i'll gladly take stability any day over popularity. when can we expect DDR5 platforms? next year finally? DDR5 was suppose to come out almost five years ago.

The 1080p panel of the G14 are what put me off from keeping it. A 33ms response time is just disappointing even if it is 120 Hz. I'm not sure about the QHD version though.

Fan noise is the Achilles heel of the system. It's too bad that the system is never truly silent even when set to the lowest power profile possible.
Running Witcher 3 on Performance mode will induce a steady fan noise of 50.5 dB(A) whereas Turbo mode will induce an even louder steady fan noise of 53.5 dB(A). This is louder than the Blade 15, GS65, and Alienware m15 R2 when under similar condition.

A kind of compromise between gaming capability and working. I have a 14" convertible with a nvidia gpu and was the best decision I made.

15"+ laptops with dedicated gpus are usually heavy and bulky, is not fun moving them around.

I think the guy looks like a complete idiot, and I second that Caring1. Looks like a bald, Chinese gangster rapper....with a laptop.

What you're not seeing is those pants actually have a laptop bag sown into the front, so he just slides the machine down into pants after he is done using it. It's really function over form.

Then get the regular G14 without the LED matrix in the display lid and these ... "decorations"? It's been out for like 6 months now.

Yeah, that was really disappointing. Though to be fair, there likely aren't many 120Hz-capable 14" panels out there at all. Hope they can find a better one for the next generation, as well as get the fan profile tuned a bit better. Fix those two and this is pretty close to the perfect laptop.
