AMD Ryzen 7 7700X Price Trimmed to $299

In the wake of its Ryzen 7000X3D series announcement, AMD cut the price of its Ryzen 7 7700X 8-core/16-thread "Zen 4" processor. The Ryzen 7000X3D series is available from February 28, however, the 8-core 7800X3D will only be available from April 6. Despite this, sales prospects of the 7700X could be affected, as the SKU faces cannibalization not just from the 7800X3D, but also the recently launched 65 W Ryzen 7 7700, which has shown decent overclocking potential with motherboard-level power limit unlocks. What's interesting is that the 105 W 7700X at $299 puts it below the 65 W 7700 that launched at $325, which means that the 7700 could get even cheaper. This series of price-cuts and SKU re-positioning could make AMD competitive against Intel's 13th Gen Core i5 SKUs such as the i5-13600 and i5-13500 6P+8E models.

No actually the chips pretty dam good, and whats $30 anyways and lets face it they all drop sooner or later.

But yeah it's crazy how fast they are dropping, it's really sad that the mobo's are so expensive.

AMD probably has quite a lot of AM5 CPUs sitting on shelves collecting dust... with the release of the non-X CPUs the X-ones more or less became obsolete over night.

7600x and 7700x actually Ryzen 9 series of CPUs seem to be selling quite well but its all thanks to bad value proposition of these entry level CPUs from stupidly overpriced motherboards.

Yep, that.
With AMD the more you wait the more you save.

With all the initial quirks they have, it's best to buy cheap outdated AMD products rather their brand new lineup

Are you kidding? It came out 4 months ago. $100 off 4 months later isn't "the fastest discounted product I have ever seen".

The CPU is fine. It can't sell because of the high cost of motherboards and memory, and because all of Intel sucks except for the 13600KF which is directly targeting the 7700X's performance category. Same problem Intel had with the 12th gen launch and why the vast majority are now all DDR4 instead for Intel. AMD is doing a year long transition, they are fine selling massive quantities of Ryzen 5000 in the meantime.

They dropped once before this too, just not officially. They weren't selling. Also, not sure what kind of deal they made with MicroCenter, but the only reason they even sold as much as they have is because MicroCenter has been bundling free ddr5 6000 2x16gb kits with the 7000 series chips.

That deal is still ongoing, and has been almost since launch day. Desperation is an interesting new look for AMD.

They were in desperation mode 5-6 years ago before Ryzen came into the market, this is not something foreign to the company lmao.

They just got really comfy post Zen 3 during the pandemic when WFH reigned supreme and CPUs were selling hand over fist, charging the consumer whatever tf they wanted thanks to Intel's no show in late 2020 for all segments except value. Took until Alder Lake arrived in Q3 2021 before they were reigned in, and subsequently Zen 3 prices plummeted to where they are right now.

299 USD for a 6 core/12 thread CPU (5600X) (1600/2600/3600 were all 199 USD), never forget what AMD is capable of when in the lead and unchallenged just like any other corporation.

eh, they still haven't learned their lesson yet on gpu's running hotter than they should run. it's really nice to see nvidia with all of the 4000 series line, making sure companies provide proper heatsink sizes to run nice and cool. AMD has never once learned this, and I say good riddance. really looking forward to my 4070 ti.

Really? Faster then the 12th gen series price hike (to make their 13th gen seem like a better deal) and subsequent price drop (because business is going poorly)?

Well trimmed or not when checking pricerunner for Denmark the 7700 non-x vs X sku there is only about £17,14 / 20,93USD between them which like Intel's KF and K sku's it makes no sense to but the KF because most prices are in the same ball park and sadly for the 7700 non-x it's the same even doe the non-x is easier to cool and can actually give you the X sku performance if you tweak.

Personally I am looking at the non-x to slap my current Noctua NH-D15 chromax black on because that one is easier to cool and performance in games and doesn't need a AIO or custom loop to keep cool

If only the new generations motherboards were not so expensive without all the features being ripped out, then at these price points, it would have been a fantastic time to upgrade from an old system, I am still extremely happy with my 5900X

This month the ASUS PRIME X670-P WIFI at Komplett.dk is on sale for £215.16 / 263.36USD normal price is £239.60 / 292.64USD so not bad because it can be even more costly but it's fine X670 board because right now it trades blows with some B650 boards so it's not bad.

Planning on getting this board and 2x16GB DDR5 and it's set.

No surprise here to be fair. AMD is in a race now with the new CPUs and releases more product and broader range than few years back. Making room for a new product and cut price of the former ones to allocate new is very good. That is always good I just hope people will not start complaining about the price drop and take as the CPUs are shit because the price is dropping. Maybe AMD should just add a price bump just like others do but then it would be milking customers so either way is not good.
I only hope the new 3dvcache wills how their strength.

A 7950X cost around 60$ to manufacture (not including AMD research and staff cost)...a 7700X is even cheaper with 1 chiplet less. Now you can guess how much AMD REALLY makes...

If indeed the 7700 gets even cheaper, it's very good news. 7700 non-X is the (AMD) chip I'm eyeing.

That's because the 5000 series still is a really good CPU series and with the first X3D cpu released that can still give a good punch in games and can be used with older 300 and 400 series chipset from AMD some go that route.

Even I did but I miss a onboard GPU these days with energy prices like the waves in the sea that's why I am currently selling my cpu and board going AMD Ryzen 7 7700 non-X because on week days I do not need my dedicated GPU to run what I do and some weekends to so if I can save the power that my CPU uses with hardware acceleration too it will be great plus AM5 will have support for a couple of years.

People might be on to a winner here if the mythical A chipset boards appear for 120.00 some cheap ram and you got a pretty decent pack for a reasonable price.
