This Week in Gaming (Week 21)

To call this a busy week of game releases would be an understatement and there should be something for everyone except those that want a new sports or racing game of some kind. This week's AAA title is all about precious things, but we also have games covering the post-human world on earth, rescue missions, hammers of war, the colour yellow and snakes, for those that are into those kinds of things. Oddly enough, most of the games this week are released on Tuesday, so we included a whole bunch of new releases on the same day of week this time around due to this, not because we hate the other days of the week.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum / This week's AAA title / Thursday 25 May
Play as Gollum on his quest to retrieve his Precious. You will need to climb the mountains of Mordor, sneak around Mirkwood and make difficult choices. Who will gain the upper hand: the cunning Gollum or the innocent Smeagol?
Inkbound / Monday 22 May
Inkbound reinvents turn-based gameplay in a fluid online-only co-op roguelike from the creators of Monster Train. Play solo or party up to dive into the magical, dangerous books of the Atheneum Library and fight to save this rich, ever-expanding world.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun / Tuesday 23 May
Load up your Boltgun and unleash the awesome Space Marine arsenal to blast your way through an explosion of sprites, pixels and blood in a perfect blend of Warhammer 40,000, frenetic gameplay and the stylish visuals of 90's retro shooters.
Convergence: A League of Legends Story / Tuesday 23 May
Traverse the sprawling city of Zaun as Ekko, a young inventor with a device to manipulate time, in this story-driven action platformer. Collect parts, craft gadgets, and unlock abilities—then rewind time to adapt your approach to every new challenge.
Planet of Lana / Tuesday 23 May
A young girl and her loyal friend embark on a rescue mission through a colorful world full of cold machines and unfamiliar creatures. Planet of Lana is a cinematic puzzle adventure framed by an epic sci-fi saga that stretches across centuries and galaxies.
After Us / Tuesday 23 May
Play as Gaia, the Spirit of Life, and navigate stunning platforming environments in an abstract world to salvage the souls of extinct animals. Revive these creatures after learning their final fate: the last whale harpooned, the final eagle caged, the last deer hunted down, and more, while you survive encounters with dangerous, oil-covered Devourers that roam the wasteland in search of remaining life.
Halls of Torment / Wednesday 24 May
Slay hordes of terrifying monsters in this horde survival roguelite. Descend into the Halls of Torment where the lords of the underworld await you. Treasures, magic trinkets, and a growing cast of heroes will grant you the power to vanquish the horrors from beyond. How long can you survive?
Above Snakes / Thursday 25 May
Experience the ultimate blend of creation and survival in this isometric Wild West-inspired RPG. Build your own world piece by piece while navigating various biomes and battling against the elements or - even worse - dangerous Lost Souls. Gather resources, construct bases, and craft weapons and tools to hunt, fish, farm, and fight. Whether you prefer peaceful farming or thrilling combat, Above Snakes offers endless possibilities for players to explore and conquer.
The Baby in Yellow / Friday 26 May
The Baby In Yellow is a Lovecraftian comedy horror game where you must look after a suspicious baby and survive his attempts to take control. Over the course of 8 chapters this creepy bundle of madness must be well-fed, clean and most importantly, kept entertained.

ExcuseMeWtf
W40k: Boltgun preordered, can't wait. I'm sure I'll have fun as I had playing Project: Warlock.

Even ignoring that, plenty of interesting titles this week.

Boltgun, Planet of Lana and Alter Us look interesting.

ACG had a preview of Boltgun two months ago:

Planet of Lana reminds me a bit of Another World.
