AMD Software Adrenalin 23.9.1 WHQL Released with Anti-Lag+, Boost, and HYPR-RX

AMD has released the latest version of the Adrenalin software, the version 23.9.1 WHQL. The new AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 23.9.1 WHQL adds support for Radeon RX 7700 and RX 7800 series graphics cards which will be available as of today, as well as adds support for AMD Radeon Anti-Lag, Radeon Boost, and AMD HYPR-RX features.

The AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ initially supports 12 games, including Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, Dying Light 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 4, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Fortnite, Last of Us: Part 1, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Resident Evil 3, and Borderlands 3, with more promised in the coming months. It also adds support for AMD HYPER-X, a one click solution which combines AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+, Boost, and Radeon Super Resolution to achieve improved performance and latency reduction.

Here are the full release notes:
New Product Support
  • Support for Radeon RX 7700 and 7800 Series Graphics.
New Feature Highlights
  • AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ - Takes responsive gaming to the next level by introducing per-game profiling to intelligently pace frames further reducing input lag on RDNA 3 based Radeon GPUs. For more information about game support click HERE.
  • AMD Radeon Boost - Now supports AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ and improves image quality through awareness of mouse sensitivity, reducing the image quality impact of dynamic resolution switching during motion—typically seen with high-DPI mice.
    • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.9.1 introduces AMD Radeon Boost support for Resident Evil 4 Remake and Ghostwire: Tokyo, which delivers extra performance and increased responsiveness with little perceived impact to quality.
  • AMD HYPR-RX - Introducing a new driver experience that allows users to optimize their games using AMD Software features for their RDNA 3 based Radeon GPUs, achieving increased performance and lower latency with ease.
    • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.9.1 introduces the ability to intelligently combine AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+, Boost, and Radeon Super Resolution to achieve improved performance and latency reduction than these features can achieve on their own.
What's Next?
  • AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ - Initially supporting 12 games, new game support for AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ will be released through AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition updates in the coming months.
  • AMD HYPR-RX - The HYPR-RX experience will continue to grow, including support for AMD Fluid Motion Frames to boost FPS using frame generation for DirectX 11 and 12 games in Q1 2024.

Drivers are increasingly looking like engine maps these days.
Antilag++ , 2.2 psi boost, pop&bang and what not, I feel like I'm tuning an ECU

Q1 2024 usually starts at the end of 2023.
The governments Q1 2024 starts in October.

Yeah I suppose they could do something like that, but I'm almost 100% certain they mean Q1 as in sometime after January 1st 2024 and before March 31st 2024 as that follows fiscal reporting standards. Otherwise wouldn't they want to say Q4 2023? That'd sound a lot better for marketing purposes if they really did intend to launch before the end of 2023. I just hope this is worth the wait, not launching FSR3 with Starfield was bad enough, I don't want to hold my breath for another ~6 months (potentially) and have it end up being just meh.

@maxus24 @W1zzard can we get a review of this feature tested on just like two or three of the most popular games? like a mini review of this feature to see if its any good? So this Hyper-X feature only works in those 12 games correct? Because hyper-x includes anti-lag+ which only those 12 games get... man this is confusing, its stated like Hyper-X can be used for any game as long as you have rdna3... @GFreeman can you confirm Hyper-X only works in those 12 games listed? but then in q1 2024 fluid motion frames will support any dx11 and 12 game? agh my head hurts.

My strategy of just turning it all off has never steered me wrong. The framerate limiter is the only thing I've ever bothered with in either nvidia or amd drivers.

frame rate limiter in both nvidia and amd does not work as well as rivatuner, does not catch as many games anyway. so i actually do what you do, i keep all the features off, and just run native for my games, classic MSAA x4 in games that have that, etc. i don't like change. but FSR 2 has made me change some, cause its the only option for witcher 3 directx12 to run smoothly and now starfield as well

I updated to the new AMD Software Adrenalin 23.9.1 driver using the AMD Cleanup Utility, went into dota 2, got to the menu and crashed, resetting the driver did not help, I had to roll back to the previous version 23.8.2 WHQL

I found an issue in this driver build where the menu's are unresponsive after a certain period of time. Think i'm going to DDU and reinstall but someone said they did that already on reddit and the issue was still there so a driver bug with this version.

@Sem98 @Makaveli @terminusaquo I have not upgraded to this driver and don't intend to as my system is running rock solid. please please use the AMD report bug tool, even if you already installed the old drivers again, just type it out and let them be aware of the issue why you rolled back so they can look into it.

I haven't made any changes to the system yet as i'm working from home and using it.

i'm going to do as @terminusaquo suggested and send in a bug report. Don't think I'm going to bother reverting to the previous driver as this isn't a huge deal for me as i'm never in the adrenaline control panel alot. Once I load my previous tweaked settings after the install don't really go in just use shortcuts.

Done and I added the link to my youtube video in the report.

Before writing a comment to the post about the new driver , I made an error report in the 23.9.1 WHQL driver itself , described the problem in detail and how to reproduce it , after which I rolled back to 23.8.2 WHQL where there were no problems with the game , it 's not very nice when you install the latest version of the driver and can't play a certain game with friends due to the inability to enter it before the main menu , followed by an emergency exit .

Welp, Radeon RX 6000 series users may be better off with 23.2.1. 23.2.1, from February works well for me.
