Via introduces 1W Eden processor for embedded applications

Via is well known for low power CPUs, so it comes as no big surprise that the company will be offering a new Eden processor with a power consumtion of a mere Watt. The new CPU adopts the typical VIA V4 bus and 21mm × 21mm nanoBGA2 packaging as other Eden models, but sets itself apart offering a 500MHz core frequency at a power consumption of only 1W. It is meant for network applicances or embedded boards.

this all possible if not already been testing
this is if they keep it at this rate

i dont mean the equal symbol literally, i dont know the key for equivlent mathmatical symbol

single core-
500mhz=1w
750mhz=1.5w
1ghz=2w
1.5ghz=2.5w
2ghz=3w
2.5ghz=3.5w
3ghz=4w
3.5ghz=4.5w
4ghz=5w
4.5ghz=5.5w
5ghz=6w
5.5ghz=6.5w
6ghz=7w
6.5ghz=7.5w
7ghz=8w

dual core-
or
even
quad core

again just a hypothetical situation if the 500mhz uses 1w

would be badass to see like a quad core cpu with each core rated at 7ghz only using 32w, that would be crazy but will also tie in with the explaination in sci-fi movies about their computers being smaller than small or maybe a technological advancment whoo hoo

Well, the little math ins't that good really....

Watts Clock
1 - 500
x - 7000

x = 14 Watts
x = 07 Watts x 4 (cores at 3,5 ghz ) = 28Watts not bad..... It would be so great if things just worked that linear way....
But I think we will get there sometime (less than a 5 years maybe ?)

Interesting point. For an embedded system, 2x 500Mhz (ie dual core) is probably preferred to 1 x 1Mhz.

Will require a heat sink. Passive.
