Alienware Area-51 m17x Gaming Laptop Now on Sale

Alienware started selling its fastest and meanest gaming notebook, the Area-51 m17x. It comes with some serious power and let's hope it won't overheat as the little brother m15x. The Area-51 m17x comes with a 17" display supporting 1080p (1920x1200 resolution), variety of NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX, 8700M GT or 8600M GT dedicated graphics cards operating in SLI mode, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, and up to 1000GB of hard drive capacity using two 500GB HDDs. The laptop comes with a 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Extreme processor and can also be offered with a DVD burner or Blu-ray optical drive, a 64GB solid state drive and 1GB Intel Turbo Memory. In Area-51 m17x you'll also find two speakers with subwoofer and a built-in 2-megapixel webcam. The m17x runs Windows Vista OS and starts at $2,199. It is available now through the Alienware's online store.

Well if its anything like my X80r (in specs to the left) then well playing Oblivion maxed out ( which looks stunning on the 1920x1200 17" screen) on the battery it lasts for roughly 40 minutes :wtf::D

is it just me or does this laptop look exceedingly ugly? I was just comparing this to a Dell XP 1730

or a Asus G1s/G2s series laptop. i wouldnt buy this laptop if i had the money to throw a way - cosmetics wise it looks like a 5y/o designed it or something

i wish my lappy had that hd space, i wonder how much that weighs, although my g1s gets about 1:10 playing css off of the battery, so what would this get maybe 40min? if that
@freedom yes to me it does look pretty ugly, although i do like the lighting effects

It does and games particularly look fantastic (currently replaying oblivion on my X80r and it looks better than I ever remembered it - although this could be down to the fact the last time I played it I only had a X1800XT).

There is a drawback however, normal desktop viewing (ie small text) can be a bit of a pain sometimes due to the high resolution and small screen. It also makes the 15.4" (1280x800)screen on my other laptop look comical (ie looks like a childrens big text book in comparison).
