Antec Makes Mini Skeleton 90 Official

Antec, Inc., the global leader in high-performance computer components and accessories for the gaming, PC upgrade and Do-It-Yourself markets, today announced the Mini Skeleton-90, the Mini-ITX model of Antec's popular Skeleton case. The Mini Skeleton-90 is the first open-air enclosure designed exclusively for Mini-ITX motherboards, and offers unique cooling, flexibility and style for small form factor systems. Providing high levels of cooling, the Mini Skeleton-90 features a top-mounted 150mm TriCool blue LED fan and a rear 70 mm fan, while the open-air frame enables greater airflow than traditional enclosures. The removable component tray provides quick, convenient access to components and allows for efficient cable routing which prevents wires from impeding airflow.
The Mini Skeleton-90 includes a 90-watt adapter for 90 watts of stable and reliable power. Convenient front-mounted USB 2.0, eSATA and audio (AC'97 and HDA compatible) in and out ports offer easy multimedia connection. For enhanced flexibility in system integration, the Mini Skeleton-90 also features five drive bays, including one 5.25" drive bay, two 2.5" drive bays and two 2.5" side HDD mounts. With a 7.5" (H) x 8.3"(W) x 9.1"(D) sized frame and 0.8mm cold rolled steel with reinforced plastic chassis, the Mini Skeleton-90 is petite as well as durable. The Mini Skeleton-90 is designed for users seeking a smaller desktop option, secondary PC or home theater PC (HTPC) that utilizes the Mini-ITX form factor. "With the popularity of Mini-ITX motherboards rising, we wanted to develop a case that really takes advantage of the smaller form factor," said Scott Richards, senior vice president of Antec. "The Mini Skeleton delivers the same impressive cooling, airflow and style as the original Skeleton, in a miniature frame perfect for Mini-ITX users." The Mini Skeleton-90 is available now for an estimated price of $119.00 through major retailers, e-tailers and distributors. The Mini Skeleton-90 is backed by Antec's Quality 3-Year Limited Warranty. Yeah, honestly. Unless it's not supposed to be used as an HTPC. And then.. why would someone going after such a radical case not just buy/build something more massive? Which is to say, if someone doesn't care about how it looks, they wouldn't care for its size.
It's really quite niche. Not something Antec usually makes. That is, except for the Antec p190.. which is the best case ever.

Well, I'd use it for an HTPC in a metal and glass styled living room, but it surely is a niche product, and a dust magnet.

Come to think of it, my cat would probably get electrocuted real quick with one of these around. It is waaaaay too curious for its own good.

Yeah, but what do you do when the horrible electromagnetic solar storms of 2012 hit and you're using this case?

Nothing; your computer will fry.

I dunno...

I'd buy it and make a mini itx hardcore lan party rig with a quad core and some awesome video card.

For a purpose like that it would be sweet.

Obviously there is interest in their cases if they made another Skeleton. I like the Skeleton, I'd get one, but I have no reason to get one.

Shouldn't they wait until someone buys the first one before they make a second one? The Skeleton is awful as a case, and is also awful as an open benching station, so I'm not sure what purpose it's trying to serve.

Tech stations are the same way, but they are way easier to clean than a regular case, so it doesn't matter if it attracts dust.

My problem with the case is it tries to be a tech station, but then they design a bunch of crap (like that fan) above the board, completely defeating the purpose of what makes a tech station desirable - super easy component access.

You know what my HTPC could use? More bright blue lights that illuminate the room I've just turned off all the lights in! Oh yea, and less acoustic dampening of all the internal components because no movie is complete without a computer blasting away.
