My current 24.1.1 drivers seem to get corrupted somehow

symptoms: lagging in text editors
Your RAM or CPU RAM controller may be failing! Windows may just be about to BSOD for a RAM error, especially if you start getting "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA" or "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" stop codes.

Did you run TestMem 5?

I had a case where downgrading the RAM to my 2x8 GB AData kit, seemed to reduce lag on my Ryzen 7 5800X. (May, 2023) My CPU-Z benchmarks increased after I took the G.Skill TridentZ Neo 2x16 GB kit out!

Nah, CPU and RAM related errors never occur. I have ~133 MHz room before things go south in this regard given I don't change the RAM timing multipliers. I have literally zero problems with an NV GPU (different Windows build) and the same glitches happen if I slot into a 100% proven to work secondary AMD GPU so it's 100% GPU driver related.

Nothing urgent to do so I'm just calmly waiting for an answer if the newest drivers are better than those from January.

The most bizarre part in all this is the games don't glitch out, even the Bethesda ones. I suspected them to die first.

I have no experience with Bethesda games. But I bet Beam NG. drive is an excellent test! Especially the Vulkan renderer! Same with Unigine Superposition 1080p Extreme. (especially with unstable GPU core, often a solid system freeze!)

GTA V might be a good test as well. A Direct3D init failure pop-up box, midgame, means unstable GPU core, usually.

Superposition is one that's well known to die, including the whole PC, with a frozen image, if GPU core unstable!

I doubt most of us here do before and after testing of driver performance. I haven't noticed any new functions. Stability is hard to objectively measure. I have had no issues with driver stability in years but the handful of user reports isn't enough to make for an accurate assessment.

It's the TPU, not a nursery. I expect at least some people here to be obsessed with testing just for the very sake.

FYI, Linpack was reporting mismatches, like it does with unstable CPU core. No Windows crash during Linpack run. Possibly even with a problem size that it's not known to have issues with!

Linpack is suspected of having a major bug. It seems to fail when testing lots of RAM, even when stable, FYI! The CPU being AMD, increases this risk! Possibly doesn't work properly with >14 GB for the RAM test amount! It's also possible that NT6/10 memory manager is causing random Linpack mismatches!

For RAM testing, I suggest Prime95 blend and large FFTs! OTOH, I never suspected Prime95 of being at fault when a test fails. Prime95 also handles memory allocation better. Every time I saw Prime95 fail, it was unstable indeed!

I have spent hours doing performance testing in games with CapFrameX. I want to show the performance between game patches and different graphic settings. I have never considered doing similar testing for a graphics driver. Aren't most driver performance gains limited to very specific games at this late in the product life?

Are these ok with 6700K @ 4.5GHz?

Though I'm gonna underpower & -volt it as far as I can, stock clocks and 2150MHz memclock are enough for a CPU like that. The stock cooler is horrible :D

I think they are not bad at all, considering you're using an older CPU and keep the GPU clocks low.

Put the Morpheus II back to it and temps are now in the same range as with the best AIB models. As I used it previously at 4K, that 6700 XT packs a punch when playing with a 1080p144 monitor! :toast:

What do you mean, 1080p or what
Yes, 1080p. I got a 4K and a 1080p displays myself and I can't take the latter seriously. It's just a "this game will be a blurry mess either way" fall-back display ever since.

I still find playing on a 1080p TV okay (or from a monitor max 24"). Though 4K is a huge step up as I have dual 4K monitors on my main system.

Wtf. I suggest check your settings then. AMD / ATI has always bin excellent image quality where Nvidia used to skimp out on certain details to provide higher FPS in benchmarks.

I understand that reading is too complicated for most people but arrrgh, are you serious?

The only difference is displays are of different resolutions. 4K looks brilliant, 1080p looks quite dated. That's all and has nothing to do with NVIDIA's alleged image quality cheating (there is none).
