Do automobiles count? I took delivery of my new 2024 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE last Thursday. It's got so much tech in it that I'm still figuring some of it out. This is my third leased XSE Hatchback and they've redone almost everything over my former 2021. Best of all the formerly $1800 optional 800-watt JBL sound system is standard on the XSE now and without tacking on the huge former price tag. For reasons unknown to me my insurance dropped by $10 per month so the total monthly payment is only $9 more than my 2021 was. We're moving to a Seniors only complex at the end of next month in a different suburb 3 miles away and the taxes plus insurance rates are much lower there. Getting old may be a real bitch at times but it certainly does have some positive advantages.

I decided last year this is how I am going to do cars as well, just lease for three years, my uncle retired from being a mechanic and I have seen both my parents get scammed hard by other mechanics for basic fixes. Cars are just a money sink unless you know a good honest mechanic, and those are rare.

So yeah, leasing is way for me too, but I plan to just lease the cheapest I can, like a Kia Forte or something like that, cheaper down up front and the 3 year monthly cost cheaper than that toyota. Plus its fun to get something new every three years.

The problem with high "service" charge these days are from how stupidly technical cars have gotten but also the lack of mechanics/technicians available in the automotive industry.
OEM parts are also apparently difficult to source too it seems, the level of entry into it as well i've heard is quite bad since they also need to source their own tools and that could set them back into more debt even after getting a certification/graduation.

After the install of my Intel BE200 didn't yield results in actually seeing my Wifi 6, I ordered an M.2 adapter (M to E) and some cheapie antennas to test if there's a limitation on the factory E key slot (research seems to point towards this).

And since I've run into issues determining why my 4x4 PCIE bifurcation capable motherboard won't switch over to 4x4 (won't go lower than x8+x4+x4), I ordered one of these since they're all the rage right now (I'll keep it as a media only server, but will upgrade the storage once my NAS cooperates).

My car is over 26 years old (and over 200,000 mi), so I'd be on my 9th lease by now; but I do basic fixes myself.

bought this molex to sata adapter for my 4th drive as my psu only has 3 sata power cables. Last one was malfunctioning with strange issue (was an old one). This one looks fine so far.

I can't do this. I pick cars that it's either they die or I do. I'm currently doing an engine swap for one, ECU upgrade on the other, and I got a 2008 Acura MDX to drive (and eventually tow with) while I finish those two.
