Recently moved to a location with fiber connection and enough rooms to do a proper PC setup, may get back into the game now, esp since parts are becoming more sanely priced. This processor for $216 is killer

it's literally the best gaming processor money can buy, regardless if you are a billionaire or a lowly peasant. $216 is fucking incredible.

In singleplayer games, if the competition is using 6000/36 memory for control test bench's sake, when it can do 8000+.

I have a 7800X3D it's good, but kind of win some, lose some tied for "best", depending on what you play and your budget.

I'm aware Intel wins in some games and they trade blows, but $216 was the deciding factor, plus I got some top tier ram for only $95 and the Mobo was $98, it was open box, but it works perfect and looked brand new when I got it yesterday. For this price to performance ratio, there is no better bang for buck, not even close.

Sure, but bit different sentiment here. :) bearing in mind the discount a month or two before Zen 5.

Congrats on your purchase.

Fair, but x3d cache is a game changer for the games AMD does win, like Jedi Survivor or Factoria, and so on. What I meant to say was in the games AMD wins they win by a lot. As far as I am aware Intel only wins by a lot in one game and that is Age of Empires IV.

Naw thanks, I'll better wait for Arrow Lake... :D

I was considering waiting for Arrow Lake as well/ maybe 9900x3d, but $216 I couldn't resist. Was bloody tempting, especially in this economy.

nothing. had a 12600k I bought the week before but refunded for store credit and got this instead. wasn't expecting a deal like this to come along so it changed my plans.

before that I had a 5600x3d that I paid $205 for on launch day (microcenter exclusive CPU), and someone here on TPU bought it from me for $200 so I only lost 5 bucks on that.

Wow, good deal there man - looks like Microcenter is going HAM on clearing out stock.
They even have AM4 bundles with 32GB RAM and 5800X3Ds for $350, that's huge for someone on a tight budget.

When they were trying to clear out the last of the 5600X3D they had, you could get a MB, 16GB DDR4 and the CPU at $249. That combo was selling for almost the cost of the CPU alone. Was a helluva deal for a solid mid ranged gaming PC startup kit.

Micro Center certainly can have some crazy deals from time to time.

Hey, I might take you up on that lmao, but for nostalgia reasons I'd have to sell it to you for $200 even, in honor of you buying my 5600x3d. :toast:

I think even a 9900x3d won't benefit my 7900 XT though, I think this CPU caps out my possible performance in a general sense (I might be wrong I don't know how to read all these damn charts anymore because its only 4090's they do reviews with anymore). that's main reason I did this, I was like well at $216 I might as well, cause I don't ever see it going cheaper than this. 9900x3d is going to launch mid-summer is my guess, Microcenter is clearing stock fast as fuck.

Wow, good deal there man - looks like Microcenter is going HAM on clearing out stock.
They even have AM4 bundles with 32GB RAM and 5800X3Ds for $350, that's huge for someone on a tight budget.
New CPUs are coming by next month. Look for Computex

Honestly I am pretty content with my ancient 5900X still. I only game at 60fps

now we finally know why you don't need a fan on the frost commander :p

even a RTX 5090 would not be powerful enough for me. I want 240hz 240 fps ultra settings 3440x1440 WOLED someday. I doubt even the 5090 will be able to pull that off in the latest AAA games. but I have a big backlog, so it should be able to pull it off for the majority of my backlog.

I wish I had never experienced high refresh though, ignorance is bliss

yeah 9000 series is ahead of schedule I think and AMD needs to please its shareholders since AMD gpu's are nosediving in sales - we might even see 9900x3d as soon as July or late June I bet. just in time for Dawntrail July 2nd...
