I have used both and I think either one would be fine. I lean towards the MX-4 because it is cheaper.
And one another Plus for MX4:

I know they use it here in a big Data Center in Frankfurt/Germany: They had big Problems with Coolers that often sticked to the CPU like Glue. With MX4 you got it easy to maintain - this Paste never glued. Easy maintainability is mandatory for the thousends of Systems running in a big Tier 4 Data Center.

I've been thinking about gpu thermal paste recently for when I need to do a repaste of my gpu (4070) but I've been seeing how many mention the pump out effect on gpus, so with that being said among these thermal paste : mx4 or mx6 which is th beat to go? We don't have gelid locally, we do have thermal grizzly brand but seeing how many people say that the degradation factor In those are fast I rather stick with something that will last long without having to repaste and offer solid thermals

Had zero issues with degradation for the 10 years I've been using TG products.

its expensive here as well if i gotta add to that, 1 gram for 10 dollars
while mx4 4g is 7$ and mx6 4g 9.95$
What you pay is often what you get.

I get the price per gram isn't great (at low quantities), but honestly it's still not that expensive in the grand scheme of things.
Unless you're blowing through a lot of TIM inherently, you may as well get a little more performance out of the small amount you actually need.

I'm using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme which also should be good enough for long term.

For me personally, the MX-4 is the gold standard of all pastes. The Kryonaut is perhaps 1% better, but 100% more expensive.

Haven't tried the MX-6, but after having to throw away a whole tube of newly opened MX-5 once because it separated into a watery and solid segment, I'm not sure if I want to.

I used the regular TG Kryonaut from 2017 till 2022 with an OC'd i7 6700K, good temps and no issues whatsoever, you must have had a bad batch or bad ambient issues.

Now since May 2022 I use TG Kryonaut Extreme with my i7 12700K, also no issues.

That problem was with cert MX-5 batches - why else would they still offer it on their website? You can't judge all batches and products based on one. No company has a flawless record.

I haven't yet tried it but my understanding is that Honeywell PTM7950 (pads or paste) is great and gets better as it burns in. How expensive is it there?

True - although, the experience reminded me of my favourite saying: "If it isn't broken, don't fix it." :)

Ah, well, I find that saying to be antithetical to innovation and improvements, not to mention progress in general.

Have you seen people complaining about MX-6?

Innovation and improvement are nice, but I don't believe in progress at all costs. Sometimes, progress is made in a negative direction (as was the case with the MX-5).

Have you seen people complaining about MX-6?
No, but I haven't seen anyone complain about the MX-4, either.

I don't disagree with you. Your point about MX-4 just underscores that judging MX-6 based on MX-5 is not a good decision. ;P

On AM4 and AM5, the pea drop is fine. On LGA-1700, I'm not sure.

I do 3 parallel lines, which works perfectly, although I tend to be generous enough that the rest squeezes out the sides. I'm on Intel.

Pea doesn't always work depending on the cooler, CPU and ILM.
