Or you long rest and you find that your timer has run out for a bunch of stuff and all of a sudden you've got exclamation marks in your log saying conclusive stuff :)

I kinda like how the game works. The amount of freedom it offers in resolution of ANYTHING kinda makes it impossible to completely avoid some buggy behaviour. It also puts a form of mystery over the game; there are inner workings you just can't really get a grasp of unless you're reading guides. That's nice, you can't look in everyone's heads IRL either.

I just killed Ketheric yesterday (yeah I'm slow af), and then figured out it was actually possible to remove the shadow over the shadow cursed lands. I was completely caught up in other side quests... and missed a bunch of companion hooks just the same lol.
That happens a little in Act 1 (the snake) but yeah that got me in act 3, lotta things suddenly happened at once. You can get spells and potions to give characters a long rest that turned out handy there.

And yeah i kinda took out the friendly 'village' in act 2 because they went hostile while i was in a trader - i guess a companion walked somewhere they shouldnt have? Wasn't coop, something happened.

I couldnt be stuffed loading a save so i murdered em all, and missed a looooot of quests because of it.

4. Likely never. Adding a class would be a massive effort and Larian doesn't do DLC. It's outside of the scope of their regular enhanced edition as well.
5. No
6. No
7. Depends who you romance, certain characters are polyamorous and others are not.
8. Yes. The game does not restrict certain companions to being attracted to certain genders.

Do some background reading and see what could potentially be added in the game ;)
Firearms are gonna be a fat nope.

As for 5... if you want to burn out from kingdom management, fire up Pathfinder Kingmaker ;) They have it in spades, halfway the game you're gonna be so fed up with it you'll let the NPCs manage it for you :)

6. Doesn't seem to be the case, but then the story doesn't really lend itself to it either. But yeah that seems to have been a staple from other CRPGs thats missing here indeed!

Oh i broke a quest in act 3 because i'd knocked someone out with the intention of letting them revive and go along with their life - but he was a villain in a quest and the game got confused with looping dialogue. Googling the quest, i found his name mentioned went back and beat him to death and the quest completed happily.

Yeah I am definitely doing a second (maybe a third... fourth?) play of this game, I haven't finished at all yet, but there is so much to uncover still, and I also need to play this game just killing everyone everywhere one time. Next play I will focus more on the companion questlines, I completely glossed over them this time because frankly Gale and Wyll are annoyingly Gen Z (esp Gale... I would love to punch him in the face IRL), Astarion is quite alright but he wants my blood, and Shadowheart is too pushy. I like Lae'zel though. If I go 3 companions I'll definitely make them all kinds of ridiculous so the whole thing fits again :)

It also didn't help that I started this playthrough with 3 'customed' characters through a LAN session :) Kinda got attached to my perfectly tailored party, but its not the optimal experience for sure, I'm missing out on stuff and crucial dialogues for the main character play out 3 times :D Such as every Dream Visitor chat... meeting the Emperor... etc. Its funny though because you can quickly path through all dialogue choices that way, but yeah.

Oh man. you guys get to play it? I just moved to a new apartment and now my wife makes me go to shops and buy things. I did not even set my PC yet. No desk and guess which item we are going to shop as the last one? You guessed right. My computer desk heh. My little one nowadays is going dady everything which is great but i dont have time to play switch while i sit on the toilet. Life is brutal.

I started when the game officially released and got out of the ship wreckage. There are differences in the quests and I wish to get to the city to see more of it. I've noticed that despite changing characters appearance, it does not change in the game. Is this something that will be addressed or am I doing something wrong or is that a bug?

How is the game so far guys. Please just give me something heh.

Its a game that isn't kind on your time. 67 hours burned and still only past Act 1 and 2, just starting on 3. But every hour was worth :)
As for the appearances, are you sure you didn't just revert back in character creation to some randomly generated model? I found the way that appearances editing worked over there a bit misleading.

Yeah :) I need to get some time and get this thing going. I like the game and if i find time i will definitely continue. I've seen a lot of changes since the beta version. Mostly good changes. Makes me want to play more but life laughs at me at the moment.

How young is the little one? I'm slowly starting to introduce gaming to my daughter who just turned 5, although I doubt BG3 is a good place to start :D But fun times anyway, I might buy some console or handheld somewhere next year :p Maybe we'll go and share a Steam Deck...

Oh my boy loves electronics. I can see sparks in his eyes when he sees tables, phones and LED's in my PC. He's 8 months now moving towards 9. First crawl was to a tables not mom or dad so go figure :)

I did dark urge first, and i loved the crap out of it but also played as a 'good' character which was contradictory.

Now i find out you can side with the drow and have Minthara on the team? Theres a lot of hidden optional party members around the world, and hidden areas people may have missed
I mean heck, i found a hidden fish kindgom at one point, in a hole in a hole in a hole in a hole.

Minthara... I was SO close to recruiting her... failed a check and didn't save scum it away. Next time, though maybe she suits a Dark Urge playthrough in fact.

I had a shapeshifting druid dark urge

I wont do spoilers but I'll say by the end that good-guy druid monster had a whole bunch of alternate forms (including mind flayer shit) so she was utterly and totally madness in combat. Being "downed" just put her back to dragon form (the bipedal kind) for a single round, then back at it with something new and crazier.

Heck the whole build was meant to play around with the owlbear form and it only got weirder and weirder as i found ways to add more and more forms, and gear that buffed them. There's things like amulets that give you more move speed/jump while disguised or shapeshifted and I smashed all of em together into a crazy blood god.

Welp, finally ran into a semi-gamebreaking bug in Act 3.

Blurred text has minor Act 3 spoilers relating to a quest you start about a quarter of the way through Act 1.

While doing the "Free the Artist" quest in the Jannath Mansion, Shadowheart died from thunder-type damage while trying to deal with those skulls that knock you back.

I decided to screw around with the game and had a character pick her up and carry her around. Eventually, I dropped her off at the camp and revived her with a scroll.

After doing that, she won't follow the party even when grouped. Everyone else behaves normally, even if Shadowheart is leading.

Reloading the save doesn't fix it. Killing her again and having Withers resurrect her doesn't fix it. Deleting the level cache doesn't fix it.

It sounds like this glitch has been around since early access and has been "fixed" before. As far as I know, the only fix is to reload a save from before the glitch happens.

I've submitted a bug report to Larian, we'll see if it goes anywhere.

thank you for reporting the bug to Larian! you are a good member of the community for doing this

things will never improve if people don't report the issues.

Having completed two playthroughs i think i know what you did wrong - why did you carry her around? You can revive without the corpse at withers at any time in camp, and a scroll can revive them from just the soul floating if the body is inaccesible too.

As I said, I was screwing around with the game. Just wanted to see what happens.

I'll just say it causes Withers to resurrect an old glitch from early access to torment you.

"By doom and dusk, I strike thy name from the patch notes. Rise."

I ended up just reloading a prior save.

Sticking shart in a box and setting it on fire was a way to skip to act II, something about boxing party members breaks a few things since it was never intended to be needed

I think withers bugging out for some people (like my brother who simply never opened the wooden door to his room in one of the camp areas) caused people to do things unanticipated with corpses

Found another game-breaking bug that's been around for years.

Act 1 spoilers below:

I started a chaotic evil durge playthrough, and I'm trying to raid the grove. I killed Kahga the moment I met her after letting her kill Arabella, and I stole the idol without doing any quests. I went to the goblin camp and started the raid. Now I'm doing the raid, and Minthara is stuck saying that there are more people to kill, even though there aren't.

Starting to get a little disappointed, as this is the second severe old bug I've found. It's still a phenomenal game, but ugh.

EDIT: I ended up just killing everyone, since it fits the style of this playthrough, that pretty much bypasses the issue. No Minthara for me, and who knows how many side quests I'm locked out of now.

I'm also learning how powerful monks are. I have a party of 3 darkness monks (unarmored and unarmed) and 1 elemental monk (unarmored with a weapon), and I'm surprised at how viable the team is.

I'm trying to get minthara, but have an achiement i missed about saving all the tieflings. Finding a way to achieve both is tricky since a lot of advice online is from the beta, or AI generated trash.

My only problem with monks is the buffs you get from items - i'm dual wielding wizards so they can get double buffs from staffs, it's that OP

Dual hand crossbows has been interesting as well since you can offhand melee/crossbow with bonus points and some multiclass builds get quite a few of those - so you can do melee or spell mains with a few bonus pew pew crossbow shots as well

I'm definitely going to try this and use it on the hardest difficulty.

Its not everything, but gets damn close especially if you multiclass... Kinda looking for some mod to also spice up the enemies more.

The base level cap already allows you to get pretty stupid in multiclassing, but this mod completes it entirely. Sorc/Pala/Warlock is my current main, and its mental :D. Haste, Fireball, Eldritch Blast, utility spells and even a group spotheal (!) all in one... with Heavy Armor. Level Pala more to add Smite or level Sorc more to add more spell firepower and everything scales off Charisma... Or level Warlock to 3 and get your Pact Weapon to even scale Charisma to melee... AND get more spell slots at low level on top of your Sorc slots :) Similarly, a Monk with a small splash of whichever class you like and Tavern Brawler is rapidly the ultimate melee combatant.... rocking 40 damage Flurry of Blows at level 7.

But they're really all 'broken' multiclass combos in a way, which the game sort of forces on you because of that low-low level cap. More immersive multiclasses aren't really functional, like if you want to make an Imoen (3-class, Fighter/Mage/Thief) multi you've basically got dead weight right now... but level 20 unlock fixes that!

Ahaa bingo

My fights are a struggle, and I was kinda decent in DOS2. IDK, even though I like the game really much, and I play with friend(s) on lan, the spells, spell slots level bs and everything related to fights I suck so hard at. Still can't figure the game mechanics properly. And I wanted to play something without thoroughly planning a playtrough... Guess I'm not giving it enough play hours, as I work away from home. I mostly like to play mage RPG characters in my games.

Sorc/Warlock. Just anything with Charisma and 2 levels of Warlock is basic caster heaven - Bard works too. And yes that requires some knowledge of mechanics to figure out. The reasoning for spellcasters is this; Class levels allow you to obtain spell slots of higher levels and # casts per level. But Character levels feed the scaling of skills. This principle also applies to Cantrips! So with just a small splash of Warlock and the skill to scale your Eldritch Blast with Charisma, you can then move to Sorcerer and enjoy 10 levels of it while getting a maxed out Eldritch Blast on top (*and some warlock spell like the cold damage armor, its great). This allows you to throw more utility in your low amount of Sorc spell choices, which generally enable other classes to go crazy too (Like Haste, crowd control, etc). And for this reason the Sorcerer also always is better than the Wizard. Charisma is just a fantastic ability; it also mixes well with your main character being the party leader and doing the talking. If you also want mobility, roll this combo on a Githyanki for Misty Step and a better jump and if you want to get even more silly, spec your Sorc into a Storm Sorcerer so you can teleport across the battlefield and hit anything you like.

Other than that, the game relies somewhat more (than regular D&D or a game like Baldurs Gate 2) on environmental and situational effects to make fights bearable, or easy, depending on your current progress. A real perk if you are challenged is to include a Ranger/Thief(optional Fighter splash) to get first hits in from Stealth. They have great synergy especially with a Stalker / Assassin- or Hunter (if ranged) spec combo. This way you can always initiate fights. Keep in mind party members must be manually drawn into the turn-based fight in that case, more often than not.

But yeah, if you want to get stronk in combat, get deep into multiclassing. Use Withers as much as you like and roll through several setups or check the wiki for important key skills in each class/specialization to find synergies. There's a lot to be found, and the next step is molding those findings into a party that can just tackle everything.
