so i know you can change the vcore in nibitor to 1.1v from 1.05v for the 8800GT, but if you customize the voltage table you can set whatever you want really.

so my question is, if i set 1.2v in nibitor, will it ACTUALLY set it to 1.2v or am i getting my hopes up?

Actual 1.2v.

PS: Just remember, it doesn't work for your mem. So if you have a card that is ram limited (my old card = eVGA 7600GS) but core lags behind it, it will work wonders.

No it does not work period! the 8800GT is hardware limited to 1.1V, you can put whatever you want in there but you cannot get anymore than 1.1V, the hardware/pcb config does not allow for more than the 1.1V through the regulators, a Hardmod is the only way to go further.

Unfortunatly yes, it is limited to 1.1V........just think, if you could input your own value....why would anyone risk a soldering iron?

i am to understand that the XFX card is a reference board, but its black....do all the standard vmods apply?

If it is reference then yes, let me know if you want links. Non reference is more difficult as there is not a PROVEN mod yet but I will have some reference documentation soon, to be sure you just need to check PCB layout with some reference design pics that I can provide a link to if you dont have any.

yeah yeah link me up, i have a soldering iron, so alls i need is a really specific guide and whatever specific resistors or what not i need. although vmodding does void even an XFX warranty right?

Yes it does void the warranty, however, rightly or wrongly I have found that in the past, if I have a failed VMod and I clean it up, remove the resistor and solder which isnt too hard, and then RMA the dead card it has been accepted and replaced. I appreciate this goes against the "ethical" but hey, who is going to refuse a replacement card.

yeah ive killed 2 trying pencil mods...and they were none the wiser, hell they've got enough money, they can spare a card here and there

by they i mean whoever has to repair or replace it, i figure as a company of some sort, they're way bigger than me.
