In the next test, we want to measure the browser's startup performance. Any browser may participate in this contest, so you are free to select your browser.
You may also post if you get bad results.

This is the startup time of my browser:

1.008s + 0.247s = 1.255s total startup time.
The 'time' command does not measure how long it takes for the browser to be 'visible'.
It measures how long it takes before every component of the browser is perfectly responsive and completely loaded.

Hardware: AMD R5 PRO 3400G + dual-channel DDR4 @2666MHz
Software: NixOS + Cinnamon + Nyxt browser version 3.1.0

Epiphany 44.3

0.610s + 0.252s = 0.862s total startup time.

However, if you open both apps for the first time, Nyxt will open significantly faster than Epiphany and the other browsers that I installed.

If I open the Epiphany flatpak on Clear Linux on the i3-3240 system via the 'time flatpak run org.gnome.Epiphany' command it gives me the following result:

0.017s + 0.009s = 0.026s total startup time.

Hardware: Intel i3-3240 + 8GB DDR3 @1600MHz dual-channel + NVIDIA GTX 650 1GB + EVO 850 500GB
Software: Clear Linux + i3-wm + Epiphany 44.4 + nouveau open-source GPU driver

1.205s + 0.420s = 1.625s total startup time

Software: Clear Linux -- i3 wm -- nouveau GPU driver -- F2FS as root -- Firefox 121.0
Hardware: Intel 12600KF (stock) -- Kingston 6200 MHz CL35 -- GTX 650 1GB -- BIOSTAR B760MZ-E PRO -- Antec P6 -- Xilence XP550 -- ARCTIC i35 -- EVO 850 500GB

This is the time it takes to open after it has already been opened once.
But the first time you open it is almost exactly as fast thanks to F2FS.

0.395s + 0.129s = 0.524s total startup time

This is the startup time for Chromium when I have opened and closed the browser twice.

I wonder if it is specifically Alpine Linux that can open Chromium so blazingly fast because of the special init system it uses.

In my memory, in previous tests, Chromium was always one of the slowest browsers in terms of total startup time.

0.787s + 0.192s = 0.979s total startup time

Hardware: Intel 12600KF (stock) -- Kingston 6200 MHz CL36 -- Sapphire RX 7600 -- BIOSTAR B760MZ-E PRO -- Antec P6 -- Xilence XP550 -- ARCTIC i35 -- EVO 850 500GB
Software: Calculate Linux, KDE Plasma, Mesa open-source driver, XFS file system, Chromium version 124.0.6367.60

This is the startup time for Chromium when I have opened and closed the browser twice.

It's a fast startup time, but Alpine Linux is the winner in the Chromium startup test.
Alpine Linux also took an extra 14 seconds on my hardware during the startup of the system.

Calculate Linux is faster at starting the full system, while Alpine Linux may often be faster at opening apps.

I'm talking about the default settings. Almost every aspect of a Linux system is easy to tweak:

0.580s + 0.179s = 0.759s total startup time

Hardware: Intel 12600KF (stock) -- Kingston 6200 MHz CL36 -- Sapphire RX 7600 -- BIOSTAR B760MZ-E PRO -- Antec P6 -- Xilence XP550 -- ARCTIC i35 -- EVO 850 500GB
Software: Calculate Linux, KDE Plasma, Mesa open-source driver, XFS file system, Chrome unstable

The fastest 'Chrome unstable' boot times I've seen on this setup are around 0.748s.
