Haven’t really played with them honestly. They currently running at 2666MHz and are stable.

I really like the red and black scheme in this build. How is the stock cooler holding up? Other than upgrading the graphics card what other upgrades are you considering?

because for such price (yeah, not in all countries) you can get 5900X which is SMARTER decision IMO or better built AM5/1700 platform from scratch... 5800x3D price was and is hype-high. like Intel's "KS" series or "8086K" cr*p...

If all you care for is gaming then it's not smarter, you're just getting more core-to-core latency for no apparent reason. No doubt it's a far better workstation solution though.

And I agree on AM5 being much more cost efficient than 5800X3D. Ryzen 7600, even non-X, is a freaking beast.

R9 290 gives me late 2010s vibes when I was too broke to afford anything better than that. Mine was Gigabyte Windforce and not ASUS DirectCU II though.

Btw have anybody tested this latency well, meaning showing more real life and possible to imagine results? It's popular point against, but I wonder to what extent it's noticeable on daily basis. How much this point is theoretical or practical.

I've only seen someone showing bad 0.1 and 1 % lows in games with such CPUs. You can't tell them apart in basic tasks (browsing, media player, Excel spreadsheets, etc).

E.g. Anandtech presents core latency tables, but these are some numbers I don't know how to compare and suggest with, so find it on theoretical territory. Lows are some indicator of problems, but these are averaged numbers and ones averaging 1 or even 0,1% test time, so not really telling much. Btw I just thrown my question hoping that somebody would link some nice analysis, so totally fine if you don't ;)

well, I have i3-13100F which is 0,0005555% better in single-thread than cost-equal i5-12400F. Do I note this in gaming? Hell not, lol. So for price of 5800X3D ANY DAY I would choose something more "productive", than "gaming". It's like getting i5-****600K for price of i7-****700F - only dumb will take the i5.

Ok. do you do "productivity" workloads? Because if not, you are wasting money and power for e-peen.

In games and consumer workloads the 5800x3d obliterates the 5900. IDK why this is even an argument you want to have.

Same with the i series. If you are not rocking a 4090 why waste $150 on an i7?

depends. You are investing money in thing you "may" use one-two times (dead gpu/replacing gpu). Even in "keeping in mind" such cases you should also not forget your monitors and MB IO lol.
Imagine having even 2K 144 Hz and not having DP on MB IO. Good luck connecting to iGPU, lol
