Hey guys, I have a slight issue with my new build. I have an H210 case that has 1 USB C and 1 USB 3.0 connector. My motherboard only has a single 20-pin USB 3.0 header so I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how to get the USB C front panel port connected as well. I do not have room for expansion cards since it is a mini ITX build.

My only option seems to be buying something like this or this and then converting one of the 20-pin USB 3.0 male headers with something like this. This sounds like it would work in theory, but would I run into any issues?

Also... is there a cheaper way to do this without spending $50 in adapter cables? It seems like such a silly way to spend money. At that point, it might make sense to just switch to another motherboard.

the C port is 3.1, so if you only have usb3, it wont be full speed*not sure if it would even work)..unless im mistaken ofc

I don't particularly mind that it isn't full speed, but I'd rather be able to plug something in and have it be functional (if only at partial speed).

actually i dont think this would even be an option, i didnt pick up on the fact that you want to use the usbC port, sorry
i know its not optimal, but have you considered a USB pass-through?

obviously free is the best outcome.....itx limits options, not wanting to upgrade a MoBo just for this does as well, but a pass through is a solution, just not a pretty one. im sure we all had cases from that period when usb front panel support was trash  *assuming ofc you have rear 3.0*

the splitter may be your best bet

I'd pick up one of these instead of those Y cables. The issue with the Y cables is there is no logic built into them. If you plug two things into the same header on the motherboard, things start to fry. And in the case of the USB-C what port on the header you are using will depend on which direction you insert the cable.
