Having a relatively old CPU 6700K and GFX GTX 970 isn't yielding a good experience. CSGO was absolutely fine, but CS2 feels choppy with the same, at 1920x1200 res.
Another thing is mouse movement doesn't feel like raw (1:1). I disabled the enhance pointer precision setting under windows and still doesn't feel like as it was in Go.

I believe the game needs further optimisation, as is the case with mostly everything nowadays anyway.

Yeah, and I have counter-strike 2 since 2012. So you know. All reviews from OG went to CS2 :). Including account playtime.

Yep, all reviews are there since OG - csgo

Trolling is deep within ya.

lads I am here not to debate what i done and what i didn't, I am here to tell you, the game has horrible freeze spikes, end of story.

btw i never played cs-go was very crappy for me after cs-source, in total cs-go i played maybe a day or two...

What you didn't do was play CS2 in 2021.

What motherboard, cooler, and RAM do you have?
MSI Z590 Gaming Plus, TRUE Spirit 140, 32GB Patriot Viper 3600 CL16 single rank. CPU is slightly overclocked by ~ 200Mhz across the various scenarios. It's not a system issue. I think it's a combination of CS2 bugginess and CPU not really doing that well compared to modern ones.
Playing on 1080p low with high shadows now and I get above 200fps on AVG but the lows are still choppy definitely going below the 144Hz of my monitor. 1440p is similar FPS but more spikes. So deffo CPU limited.

I believe you must upgrade and jump up from something so mediocre like that 10-year-old quad core
The game needs more freedom, you have to offer more cores.

There are super cheap 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X, just get one.

I've been testing beta since March (on borrowed account as my dude, who luckily got access stopped playing csgo some time ago, lol). I also already have spent ~20h in CS2 and so far I have seen one bug (double flash froze my PC with completely white screen, hard reset was needed). I do also complain about sub-tick as the feeling is much worse compared to Faceit 128 tick experience from CSGo.

When some ppl say it is terrible optimization for launch - it is not. Csgo in 2012 was in much worse state. What is more no one had pointed out the fact that CS2 preserved the original 'feeling' of CSGo (so very close to 1.6) while the game started to look modern enough. Ofc it is not Cyberpunk lvl of graphics but cs was never about graphics.

I feel confident that with return of Arms Race, Danger Zone, Retakes and all other known stuff from CSGo + regular 2 operations per year (along with seasons) we'll have a great game to compete in for next decade easily.

Would be nice to see a cpu benchmark, maybe it would be even more informative, since the source motor is very cpu heavy. I'm playing the similarly source motor based Dota 2 and cpu bottleneck usually a bigger problem, than the type of gpu used.

I understand you're using a translator, not sure from what language, but your translation is mixing up the words engine and motor. You have the source engine. Engine and motor are similar but not entirely synonymous. Hopefully translate translates this properly.

It is.

At 1080p the 4090 performs just a 7% more than the 4080
At 1440p meanwhile, it's a 26% increase

It would be nice to see a CPU benchmark

CPU review but not only raw fps numbers, but detailed investigation under different load conditions (open tabs, running background processes, streaming and recording, etc.) in a search of micro-stuttering traces.
For example, start with a poor quad core, for example Core i7-6700K, and finish with Ryzen 9 7950X, to see which CPU in which conditions is a good fit.

Yeah but still improvements, considering 540 Hz monitor exist, 4090 is essentially the only GPU to max that or at least be closer

If you take a look to W1zzard's results you will know that with MSAAx8 even 4090 will not manage to deliver performance required to saturate this 540 Hz Asus baby :/

Sorry I just saw this, try disabling SMT. I have a 9900K, and the only thing different with my build and a lot of other gamers is, I purposely disabled hyperthreading which also got me a 300 MHz higher overclock, but I get the feeling after chatting with lots of other CS2 players, SMT and HT might be the trick for this game. I do 1080p most settings maxed out (multisampling at CMAA2, no FidelityFX) on a 2080 Ti, and I'm usually over 200 FPS, if not, hitting ~240 FPS consistently (my FPS cap).

a 2023 title that does not even have DX12 or vulkan... what a joke, not touching this with a 10 foot pole.
CS was fine... back in beta 5.2 waay before the trash that became the mtx infested cs:go and because it had "up to date" graphics for when it was released.

This is a dated joke of a game, i'm not saying to add raytrace, but ANY new FPS should be as graphically heavy as the latest COD or MW, and if you have a soviet potato computer that "ran cs:go fine" tough luck
CS2 has Vulkan api: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_2#Other_information

What a bunch of hateful nonsense. It’s technically well made and has up to date graphics and doesn’t even need that great of a machine to run. CSGO for what engine it had, also had great graphics through various improvements and map reworks, I have to say, you’re just clueless.

But it's still an outdated DX11 game as stated in there, even if it has vulkan it's not using the equivalent DX12 features.
Just because it uses DX11 and not 12 it’s not “outdated”, inform yourself better and stop talking nonsense. The game is well optimized to use GPUs and CPUs and has up to date graphics, everything else is irrelevant.

Don't know about this VRAM usage on charts. My PC has a GTX 660 that runs the game fine, not everything needs to be low. Can run AA at 1080p with other settings on and still be CPU limited at 64 fps.

RAM usage is around 1.8GB with some 200MB allocated of system RAM. Plays fine without much noticeable stuttering. On Radeon it is quite different though, even though RAM usage was similar.

Maybe the game allocated more VRAM simply because it detects the ultra high-end components...

This is normal since your PC is above the minimum system requirements:
