My secondary GPU that was used more or less when my main GPU was loaned to some friends has suddenly died. And the behavior is really weird. First, didn't drop it, I didn't put water on it, it literally stayed as a show object on my desk. I changed the paste and the pads frequently, and I didn't used it more then some very light games. I popped it today and the thing appeared on my PC, showed me the bios, but then it entered windows(kinda, by showing automatic repair) but then it entered a constant boot loop. I have no idea of why, it might be age, I'm not that sad if that's the case. I tried it once without the Ethernet plugged in, it did stay much more in windows, like 30-40 seconds, and then it did the same. It has some lights on the outside, mainly 3, one with the Windforce, one with Silence and one with Stop. When the PC boots for the first time, the Windforce logo is visible, then it stops the light, lighting the other two. Also, the fans start at the first boot, then they just stop for that boot session.

Thanks for any advice,
Best regards,
Artur

Was that card ever in S.L.I in the computer or you've just used two different cards while running the system?
I've had windows update do some completely random S.L.I problems. I though both my cards died when windows decided to install an old update that didn't work properly with my S.L.I RTX 2080 ti's.

I mean, I didn't use it in SLI, but I did at one time use both a this 980ti and another 1080ti in the same PC. Should I try it in a windows 7 PC?

yeah I would try in another PC. It might be borked windows update or windows file that caused the system repair.
