The previous release works?

All previous works, including the last one.

EDIT: Let me do a clean install to see if that works, hold-on.

EDIT UPDATE: No it's just not installing. Be aware my windows 7 is running some unfamiliar security updates all the way up-to March-April 2024. So it could be my computer.

Thanks. I'll look into what went wrong with the driver signing

This is Windows 7 64-bit, right?

Edit: confirmed here locally .. very strange

I can confirm the same error on Win7 64-bit.
2.57 starts without a problem.

Thanks for that. I have a few security updates installed right up-to April 2024. ..I was thinking I pushed to hard with security because my computer is always online.

Same here, with March 2024 ESU installed.
But I doubt the recent Windows updates are causing the problem. The issue seems to be related to the digital signature on the GPU-Z driver, or the way OS validates it.

Correct. It works fine on Windows 10 and 11. When I check the sig of the same .sys file in Explorer in Windows 7 it comes back as invalid

Would Windows Hardware Certification Kit for Win 8.1 be of any assistance? Though I read they stopped accepting driver submissions for Win7 last year.
Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for backwards compatibility of GPU-Z :)

Hello! I didn't have this issue myself using Windows 10 22H2 x64, but some of my pals using Windows 7 and 8.1 did have. Windows 7 x64 6.1.7601.27017 ESU confirmed it fixed.

Mr. W1zzard, thank you, there are 3 confirmations: it's fixed - Windows 7 x64 (different editions). IDK about Windows 8.1 - might be a client's system isn't accessible now. I think you'll get more reviews but just later.

I need time to remove failed installed. User maybe reporting the new file works, but is it really. What's happen here is when I click on the latest new file or any of the older GPUZ version, it opene's up but "it's not a install". Part of the old file is stuck & needs to be manually removed. ..in other words GPUZ is not installing any file, It's just opening "any GUPZ" version making it looks like it's fine, but it's not. at lease not here because part of the old file is still present in a couple of folders.

Give me time to delete these folders. ...Report back when done

EDIT UPDATE

Needed to manually delete short cut from the start menu & delete file from control/uninstall menu, now everything is back to normal.

Meanwhile, I've got some more feedback - Windows 8.1 and even XP, latest build GPU-Z 2.58.1.0 works just fine. I think classic standalone mode was used, so it's not a big deal to remove the previous build.

Yes, but now if I try & install the old version it acts as if's a portable executable. So it looks like all older versions may act like portable GPUZ. ie it just opens up but with no option to install/create start bar/desktop or even a folder in windows. So I still have issues

It looks like it's got something to do with one or more files in screen grab "see red boxes"

EDIT: I should also include where it say's "Video card information Utility" to this list.

Have you delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\techPowerUp before trying a new build? If it's portable or not is defined there.

That's the way it's acting now. Executable regardless of version just opens up. I can even drop it into the task bar. When I type "Techpowerup" in the search engine nothing shows up. The failed install is blocking something. ...If I can't fix issue, just have to rollback OS.

Hi,
I've never chosen the install is there any benefit to installing verses portable ?

I download/ properties and unblock the download folder/ exe and shortcut to desktop.

Practically no (installing it). It just makes life easier when it's accessable via the start menu :)

I've installed it since when it started offering that possibility

Hm.. Might be Crystalidea Uninstall Tool or Revo Uninstaller (or any SW of this kind) could fix this rather than OS rollback if you haven't done it yet? Because it seems that something went really wrong when you had installed 2.58.0.0. previously. Yet being Windows 10 user I can't reproduce it myself to understand what's the issue is.

Windows 10 has different signing requirements than Windows 7/8, and these older Windows versions don't understand modern SHA256 signing certificates

I understood it myself when I saw SHA-1 DS, it's usually done for the compatibility reasons. But I meant delshay's problem - when installation process itself was not correct or even partially broken.
I installed v2.58.0.0, then successfully uninstalled it, and deleted what is left after reboot. Then I chose the portable again.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\techPowerUp\GPU-Z\Install_Dir controls whether the "do you want to install" dialog appears.

If it's deleted or empty, the dialog will pop up.

Choosing "no, I want portable", sets Install_Dir to "no"

Finally got round to this & it worked. Computer is now 100 fixed & software behaves as it should & installs properly via link (new software) posted in thread.
Ok! W1zzard's advice above you message is more precise but if something's wrong with GPU-Z I do this exactly.
