Diablo 4 isn't terrible, to me, but it hasn't had the staying power I expected. Also more than a little frustrating that it's on GamePass now, I would never have bought it had I known that was going to happen.

Won't spoil anything, but I watched one of my partners play through it and had a really good time. Great story and visuals. Gameplay seems to have been less of a concern than "vibe", but this is true of many of my favorite games - take literally anything from Remedy, for example.

I've enjoyed it, more so than III. I actually play the game for the story and adventure, I don't do countless runs hoping for one specific peace of gear to fall or play with other people. That said, I'm not blind to the games obvious catering to an online and open world to generate money.

edit: my plan is to get it on game pass for $1, beat the single player story, then cancel my game pass. lol

Yeah but there's so much more to be had in a good ARPG. Although of course, the farming game can just not be your thing. But even so. The hidden magic in the ARPG is that new builds open up, not just by itemization, but because you learn the game better. Diablo however, especially 3 and 4, lack that magic. Its just a ladder of scaling up and up. Skill trees are pretty boring. Most of the skill tree 'magic' is in hidden interactions, too, very annoying - because they're so hidden Blizzard feels the need to fun police them out.

Grim Dawn does have this magic and gives it to you without forcing you to spam dungeons all the time.
Path of Exile has it, but gets there with a shitload of complexity.
I'm playing Last Epoch now, and it seems to have some of that magic too, but its more in terms of itemization, so more farming oriented, more akin to Diablo in terms of scaling, but so many more build options.

Not a purchase... last night i downloaded PUBG from my games library (once again). Haven't played PUBG for 3-4 years now and out of the blue just fancied having a crack at it ..... WANT MA CHICKEN DINNERRR!! Hopefully it will run smoother with a 5800X3D
