when linus made the 80k xbox controller out of real gold, that was the day i stopped watching him (tbf i didn't watch him much before that) but yeah when people are suffering all around, i'd rather see people in positions of power and wealth help people. excess wealth/greed even for a joke is just not my kind of thing. i haven't watched him since. gamersnexus and jayz2cents and hardware unboxed all i watch now.
Hahaha Hardware Unboxed hahaha

The problem is that many people online seem to take Linus's views as truth or gospel. A lot of people online seem to have zero capability in using any sort of basic judgment in determining if something online is real or fake. Worse, the more stuff is posted online, they believe ALL of it regardless whether or not it makes any sense at all.

We have seen that with at least one of the people in this specific conversation multiple times on multiple subjects elsewhere on TPU. This person simply believes everything he/she sees online, especially if it's in a video.

Even if TPU forum commenters point out contradictions or falsehoods, this person will continue to defend and justify whatever he/she viewed, often with hilariously atrocious "logic".

But some people are gullible and guys like Linus leverage this naivety into monetization. There's nothing wrong with being an entertainer or novelist. It's just a problem when people don't know recognize fiction when it's put in front of their faces. We've already seen numerous times that Linus has a very questionable level of integrity. But many online don't seem to hold it against him.

That goes for many things in life, I'm from a country where its an everyday thing that ppl follow and believe in the dumbest things and whatnot even if it makes my country worse.
Can't do anything about it nor its my problem so I don't exactly care about it.
I've started watching Linus years ago and I've never took his vids or reviews seriously since for that I have TPU and similar sites/channels where they test things in a proper way.

Always thought Linus was a tit, he prooved me right when he self nutted himself. Tried watching his vids but could not stand his goofy childish presenting. He's just another youtube tech "expert" making big money for shoving some companies stuff in your face badly.

So...a toothbrush company sponsored a video about water cooling...where LMG decided to pin critical comments that contradict what was stated in their video instead of fixing it.

What an absolute pair of clown shoes.

When LMG decided to call out other youtube commenters about data...effectively throwing rocks inside their very glass house...they lost any sort of rational believability. They've long since been about the sponsorships...but when you cannot be trusted to run basic data and admit that it's a problem you know about and will not address...then maybe it's time to take off the big boy shoes and hit those size 26 clown shoes on. Honk-honk.

Reading through the comments...apparently rubber hoses are "conductive," nobody knows that anti-freeze exists, and none of this incomprehensible junk is even a bit suspect. My anecdote for you is that three times in a decade I drained a socket 2011 system that I watercooled. Bought a gallon of de-ionized water from the store, added about two tablespoons of pH balancer from a fish tank, and never saw my blocks look like the garbage they claimed. Water in the system was clear the day I drained it, clear when I refilled it, and my only concerns were finger prints on the nickel plated block that made the thing less than mirror finish over time. Based on the garbage they showed they took heavily chlorinated tap water and sealed the system without letting it off-gas...because if you can remove nickel plating inside a water block with a toothbrush there's some shenianigans.

Whatever...Linus is still making money hand over fist. I'm just glad now it takes a toothbrush company to sponsor a video...because it seems like any decent outfit already knows they're sensationalist media with their life expectancy already ticking after pissing of so many other respectable outlets...and then doubling down. It's Kotaku levels of beautiful train wreck.

Linus has always has been a joke.... some videos are entertaining but if I want solid information from a youtube video I tend to trust Gamers Nexus a lot more.
God GN videos are so long i cant stand watching them. Ill usually watch him though if there is some sort of controversy going on to figure out whats going on.

I skip around on them and run at 1.5x speed on all my videos not just GN.

Is watercooling reliable?
On your grade of hardware with copper as the baseline, YES. I needed this approach to get the AMD 970 chipset to behave. Oh sure the Phenom II and FX were there too but water cooling is invoked based on specific priority. If you go this route, make sure you experiment with what works and learn about what makes differences in the cooling performance. It's kind of a lot to dump on you all at once but it's fun and cuts out a huge part of maintenance.

I've been on Koolance stuff for 20 years.
