Locked/Greyed out settings while undervolting with ThrottleStop 9.5

The first time I used ThrottleStop, it worked perfectly but I had to reset my laptop due to BSOD issues so I redownloaded ThrottleStop. However, this time the FIVR settings are locked and greyed out, can't really interact with any options.

My laptop is Nitro5, i5-11400, 16gb ram, NVDIA Geforce GTX 1650.

You need to disable Windows 11 VBS including core isolation memory integrity. ThrottleStop cannot access the CPU voltage control register unless VBS is disabled. After that, reboot and delete the ThrottleStop.INI configuration file and try again.

I disabled the VBS but it is still locked. Did every single methods in the website you gave and it didn't actually turned it off, instead it turned off when I turn off the VT-x in my BIOS.

Post an updated FIVR screenshot. This might still be Locked. Any recent BIOS for the Nitro5 typically locks CPU voltage control.

Heres the updated FIVR. If the CPU voltage control is locked, is there any suggestions on cooling down the CPU while gaming? It gets to 80 to 90 degree pretty quickly without throttlestop (even without able to tweak the voltage controls)

VBS is disabled but unfortunately the FIVR is Locked by the BIOS. That means no access to CPU voltage control.

Do a Google search for your laptop model. Some users have disabled the voltage control lock by modifying a couple of UEFI variables. Here is how to do this on a Dell laptop.

Thanks for the help, I've unlocked it. Is there any suggestions on the undervolting for my cpu?

Good work on getting your CPU unlocked.

Start at -50 mV for the core and the cache and see if that is stable. Similar CPUs will lose stability at around -70 mV. I like to start conservatively and work my way up.

Make sure the TS Bench does not report any errors. If you see even one error during this test, reduce the amount of your undervolt. Use the 960M test as a good quick basic stability test. Play some games after that to see how stable your CPU is.

I'm trying to undervolt my i7-6700HQ laptop. On Windows 10 I used to do it just fine and it would noticeably change my laptop's acoustic profile, but I did that hacky method of installing Windows 11 on my 6th gen laptop and now I can neither install Intel XTU (it errors out saying "Attempting to install on an unsupported platform") nor undervolt my CPU via ThrottleStop. Also tried every method you described. Is my only option to return to Windows 10 if I want to undervolt this laptop?

Here is how to unlock some Dell laptops.

I do not recommend doing this. If you make a mistake, you might break your laptop and it will no longer boot up.

Hero! You saved me from returning my overthrottling and heating Thinkpad.
