I'm a little redundant in the old Xeon department, so looking at parting ways with a relatively new Machinist X79 mATX motherboard and 1 CPU of your choice. Put in service at the start of 2024, it's been surprisingly reliable for a super-low-budget gaming rig. It does have quad channel memory support, but the only thing I couldn't get it to do is full suspend mode. It's pretty no-frills, but I'd just turn it on, game, then turn it off. But hey, it has a slot for an NVME drive, which I used as a game drive while booting to a SATA SSD.
Also available with the combo is your choice of 1 CPU, an E5-1650v2, or E5-2697v2. The former is 6C/12T unlocked, the latter is 12C/24T locked. The board does allow for multi adjustment on the 1650v2 (which I didn't really push too much), while the 2697v2 has more threads and quite a bit more L3 . I'm not certain, but I think you can run regular DDR3 with these Xeons. I used ECC since I already had 32GB of it at the ready, so I can't guarantee the regular DDR3 support. I do have 4 sticks of 1066 ECC DDR3 I could toss in for free.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
