Maybe you folks have played with the Augmented Reality Sandbox, or saw it on a website. I first saw mine at Mobius Discovery Center in Spokane while visiting for New Years a few years ago.
They call theirs M.A.R.S. Mobius Augmented Reality Sandbox.
Mine is called the sandbox.
I began construction before corona, BC. It was intended to be used in my son's school. I had the support of the science division of the school district. It was coming together and looked like the kids were ready for it......then the bug hit. And we moved, and it got dismantled and thrown into storage.
Well, here we are Post Corona, so why not play in the sand?
A few pics, for your enjoyment.
The blue water actually flows to the contour in real time. If you change the landscape, the water will get sloshed around and find the lowest point. The speed of the updates is variable, too. The faster the system, the better the simulation. I dont want to upload any vids, but my pictures dont do the system justice. I posted so others may become aware of this cool toy.
The changes you may notice are due to me changing the base elevation in a conf file. It changes the color based on the height or depth of the sand compared to "0."
