Hello

I have bought this used card from aliexpress and whenever i play a heavy game like red dead 2 my pc crashes and with black screen and weird speaker noise and then it restarts the pc automaticaly.

i have a vga monitor which is connected with hdmi converter. but i doubt it is the problem because before that i used my 5600G to play games and never had crash problem. Also i have a 650W cooler master PSU and asus rog strix b450 gaming II.
so the screen sometimes flicker before the cradh and restart.

Anyone had this problem and was able to permenantly fix it?a nd if this specific card version is made with a hardware problem because i will never buy an amd product never again

Things i tried :
Update to the latest AMD drivers using DDU.
Use an older video driver.
Undervolt the card.
Use 1 cable power supply rail and 2.
Format windows 11.
Use windows 10.
Checked if card is overheating no max is 75c junction is 90c.
Updated bios to the latest.
Disabled Apu.
Turned to pcei 3 and no auto

System specs :
CPU 5600G
PSU COOLER MASTER MWE 650W V2 BRONZE
MOBO ASUS B450 ROG STRIX GAMING II
RAM 2X8 3200MHZ CORSAIR

You're probably spiking power and the PSU shuts down. It's not a very good PSU, and the 5700XT can spike to more than 300 W.

See if you can return the card and get something more efficient with a newer architecture. You could also try replacing the PSU with something better.

What you have now is a low priority tier C PSU. Get a 750 W Gold tier B or better from the PSU Cultists tier list.

It could also simply be a faulty card.

being ali express i would think its a mining card that has been resold after a refurb.

Yes But most of the rx 5700 xt cards are used for mining however the card came very clean. Also i do not think its a a power supply issue i have searched the web and found several people with the same issue (pc crash and reboot). even threads from 2020! what bothers me is the pc reboot as it does not genrate any code in event viewer. Also when playing non heavy games like cs or hitman it does not crash. but playing red dead 2 or watch dogs it will crash. i tried to return the card but the seller is refusing also protection time is expired. i have opened a dispute through my bank now.

cards can be washed easily using distilled water and then rinsed with alcohol. you can do this at home easily.

clean doesnt mean that it fixes all defects caused by mining and heavy thermal load over long duration of time.

I think the VRM is dying....what happens if you lower the power limit in AMD Adrenalin control panel?

Only happens in demanding situations, makes a buzzing sound, doesn't generate a BSOD code...

I think i might found a temporary fix where there is no crash for a long gaming session and this is what i did :
I went to safe mode used DDU and removed the latest AMD driver.
I downloaded an older 2020 driver i run and copied extraction path after that i canceled the installation and went to device manager to manually install the driver.
After that i did not have any crashes at all i played red dead for 3 hours.
Also i had to clean directx cache whenever i have to play a different game.
For the power supply i measuered it and found out the whole system does not draw more then 300W. so i do not see why i should change to another one.

Those power meters for home usage are unlikely to register the power spikes since duration is like micro seconds. If you are stable, then the power spikes stays within parameters of the power supply.

2nd hand aliexpress card...

also, i had a 500W aerocool PSU which was basically a firehazard running a Powercolor refurbished 5700 XT, all i can see is that you´re dancing around the problem with patches and care.

Not really friend if you google the issue. "xfx card pc reboot." you will find a lot of people have my problem and actually with different cards. either it is this brand xfx which makes gpus with hardware issues or it is my PSU. i'll have to test the psu to find out.
