Drive seems good BP try yanking out some ram 1 stick at a time and booting to see if anything changes, and or swap the PSU

I'm noticing that the reboot episodes only happen during late afternoon and throughout the evening.

It happens also when I have the AC on. Just tried it and system rebooted. I turned the AC off and the pc seems stable now.

Could it be my electricity supply? People use more power during that time and perhaps our house isn't being delivered a good voltage? Does this make sense?
(I don't have a stabilizer, bad I know...)

Benchmark Scores Don't know any benchmark. It runs good enough for me.
Sound like dirty power from your house because of the number of AC. If the power was dirty it should have the pc should have failed earlier. You can get an electrician to check on that if you suspect that. I do suspect the problem could be due to unstable power. There is still so much unknown in your case. Do you have any other Pc to out things? Like have another working pc being power on with Air-conditioning on to see whether it is your house.

The other things is to test all your pc component individually. It seems like your ssd is in good shape. Now we have the motherboard, ram, cpu and power supply.

I tried the pc using an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator), and the reboots still happen. So probably it isn't dirty power now.

My daughter's computer still runs fine.
Probably I'll test mine out using her PSU. Unless somebody suggests something else?

EDIT:

I tried to run Windows Memory Diagnostic several times but the pc always rebooted mid-way.

I then tried something, which, fingers crossed, seems to have solved the problem even though this was a hit or miss. I increased the ram voltage to 1.60

Windows Memory Diagnostic ran fine, found no errors. And so far pc hasn't crashed or rebooted. Hopes it stays this way...

I'm still curious what caused this instability however. This pc has had the same bios settings since the day I built it more than 3 years ago. o_O

Chips age and connections tarnish ,I've found the max clocks on my system are now starting to waver too ,mines done 739 days of work so ill let it off.
I recently upgraded to 32gb of mem that initially clocked right up to 1866 stable. But just 3 months later it wasn't stable , I'm at 1333 now max because even 1600 clocks started to show issues.
Could just be age, we all get a little slower with age eh.

all parts dont age at the same rate.. some will still be good some maybe not so good..

i am gonna guess at the cpu being not so good in this instance.. if possible i would try slowing it down or giving it some more volts.. see what happens..

ypou increased the voltage and its stable your machine reboots but your daughters doesnt, you connected it to a conditioner and it still does it.

please rule out the PSU by swapping it out and bringing your voltage back down.

memory voltage being too low may just be a symptom. Its a good diagnosis but it doesnt mean its the right one.

I will if it starts giving me trouble again, but for now I just want to breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy Fallout 4 :)

Well, I had a reboot. It's very occasional now though, unlike before when I could barely use the pc at all because it just looped startup and reboot. I upped the RAM voltage once more, this time to 1.62V

Like @Solaris17 suggested, me too was suspecting it is the PSU all along which is causing all the trouble, especially since all this started when I was using the pc on generator instead of house electricity.

However, Hwinfo shows that the PSU is delivering (is this info reliable?)



Tomorrow when I'm less tired I'll swap this NZXT 850W with the Corsair 850W from my daughter's pc, put RAM voltage back at stock 1.50V and see what happens...

I changed the PSU, and all is OK now.

Here's the longer story:

What was bothering me was that the pc rebooted very randomly so I couldn't point out what was causing it to reboot. Sometimes it'd reboot while browsing this forum and facebook, other times it rebooted during Fallout 4. Sometimes it rebooted then stayed stable for more than an hour, other times it looped reboots without giving me chance to do anything.

So I decided to run some tests to try to make the pc reboot when I want not when it wanted.

I ran OCCT and Linpack, stressing both cpu and memory. Nothing happened, no reboots no crashes.

Then I tried Furmark to stress the GPU... and bang it reboots within a split second!

The most obvious and less time-consuming option was to change the GPU so I replaced the 670 with the 5970.
Running Furmark made everything crash immediately as well.

So this morning I changed the PSU with an equivalent wattage Corsair, and voila' no crashes, the pc's been on for more than 6 hours, I ran Furmark with no problems, and for the first time I can run Fallout 4 at my native resolution of 2560x1440!

So it seems the PSU was incapable of supplying adequate power to the GPU when it would come out of its 2D clocks. That's pretty shoddy; the PSU should refuse to come on if it can't safely deliever its full rated power.
