Has the show Clarkson' Farm been available in the UK & France? It's a good example of how hard it is to actually earn a living on a farm (in the UK), pointing out many of the absurd obstacles at every level of government. Plus Clarkson is a funny f'n Muppet. lol
His farm manager showed at the end of one of the seasons that the farm netted £4 for the year.
Is it available in the UK? It is in the UK, so yes. It's an awesome show, by the way. :)

it's clarkson, he is not short of money. The farm is a toy for TV fame i'm sure
This. I'm not a farmer, but even I can see how many stupid things he does just for laughs. Like buying the biggest, baddest, most expensive Lamborghini tractor in existence for fields not much larger than your back yard.

Nothing new here. He originally wanted to build a pub/restaurant on his farm anyway and i think he did till the local Oxfordshire HoA came and shut it down because he didnt have planning permission to have it. He wants a place where he can sell some of the stuff he grows as well as other food items sourced from local farmers.

I have the opportunity to pick up a 9700k as a drop in upgrade for £160. Wondering if that would be worth it to drag this Z370 out another year or so or not bother?

While i would like a new AM5 setup. I dont game as much as i used to and £160 is easier to swallow than £900.

Do i go with the 9700k or just sit on my 8600k longer?

Not sure it's worth it TBH, if you do a lot of compute workloads then yeah maybe as you are likely to get around a 20% performance increase however in gaming less than 5% and dependant on your resolution maybe only 2-3%.

yeah that's not worth 160 quid. stick with 8600k until budget Arrow Lake lineup arrives late this year or early next year.

I just upgraded from a 9700K in bringing a spare AM4 build to life with a 5800X3D. Made a world of a difference [gaming]. IMO, avoid single threaded processors (esp the inferior older Gen) with games becoming increasingly optimised for multi-threaded processing.

I was looking to switch out for a MT 9900K on the same platform but my goodness even the used market sells these like gold, never diminishing in value. I wouldn't pay more than a £100 for one and couldn't find anything below £200. SUCKS!

Yeah. Ideally I'd be wanting a 9900k but they can still sell for well over £300 which I'm not willing to pay. There is no point investing that sort of money on an old platform like this.

Im not even going to bother with a second attempt at ordering online. I going to bus it down to a store where they have stock and pick it up in person so I know what im looking at.

Im honestly pretty mad but theres no point crying about it. The rage comes if they dont process refunds at the store im going to later. Because you will probably hear on the news about random stabbing with a stick of DDR4 2666mhz DESKTOP MEMORY as a murder weapon

Well funny story with CEX, I went to one in Northampton to trade in some stuff for voucher or to get 4k version of Ready player one on blu ray.
They had a Ready player one 4k on their shelf, gone through trade and had to pay additional £1.
Poor guy was probably new, he did all the exchange and payment before checking if they had stock.
Turned out the disc got damaged or something so they couldn't sell me it, gone a long process to refund me £1 and change my exchange to a voucher.
While they were doing that, a customer next to me bought 2 copies of MW2 for Xbox one X from Milton keynes CEX.
Turned out the cashier person gave him 2 copies of MW1 :kookoo:

Yeah. I'm finding about the shitty side of CEX right now. Waiting 20-30mins for a refund while they investigate over a £6 stick of ram... They are trying to call/email the place that sent it to confirm if the person there bagged up the wrong item or if I did a switcheroo with what arrived

::edit::

Like there is a 16gb stick of ram that would work for me but tbh I'm so annoyed with the whole process so far that I dont want to reward them with a sale

::edit 2::

They didn't even ship the ram in an anti static bag either...

::Final EDIT::

Well. It took almost 2hrs.

I walked back in annoyed as fuck after waiting another 20-30mins in the cold outside expecting to pick up what I wanted to refund and come back the next day as I had left it with them while they dealt with it. Spoke to a few of the staff there who had no real idea what was going on and the member of staff that was dealing with me was on break. Then I saw who must have been either the supervisor or manager and I was about to ask for my precious 8GB of laptop desktop RAM back and he says "I'll process/authorise your refund. I'll sort it out for you. Expect it back in your account two days"

The thing is, I spoke to them politely as well. I never got mad with them or raised my voice at them but i didnt expect them to drag it out as long as they did. Maybe if i had been more 'assertive' they would have moved quicker.

They were still waiting for the place that sent the ram to respond to the email. She even called them but im not sure if they picked up or not and when i asked how much longer she said she didnt know and it could be at the end of the day when they respond to emails - Hence why I was going to pick up my stuff and come back the next day to carry on.

I can understand if they were being cautious over an high value item - £80-700 graphics card, laptop or gaming console etc etc but the ram was £6, they owed me £9 in total...

Im not shopping at CEX again needless to say.

Cex are greedy _(insert f here)ucks, they quite often make 100%+ profit on phones. I have no problems with companies making some money but that is just taking the pee pee.

They had what looked to be a brand new Motorola G84 (256GB) for £210 when they've been on sale for as low as 170 or 180, Maybe even 160. Samsung A54s and 53s with 128GB still stupidly overpriced just like every other retailer.

My Moto G73 lacks a lot of flair compared to the samsungs but Its got it where it matters 256GB/6GB for £200 although that has also been on sale for as low £160 now.

Look at high end iphones, they buy low then make a crap ton of profit.
i mean look at this, £450 profit. They could just buy for higher price, giving the seller a better price and still make a nice profit, but they rather make nearly 100%

Yeah. I'm finding about the shitty side of CEX right now. Waiting 20-30mins for a refund while they investigate over a £6 stick of ram... They are trying to call/email the place that sent it to confirm if the person there bagged up the wrong item or if I did a switcheroo with what arrived

::edit::

Like there is a 16gb stick of ram that would work for me but tbh I'm so annoyed with the whole process so far that I dont want to reward them with a sale

::edit 2::

They didn't even ship the ram in an anti static bag either...

::Final EDIT::

CeX didn't want to buy my 7700K back in the days because as they put it "it had bent pins". As it turned out after pressing my case, that they tested it in an incompatible motherboard and tried to blame it on me. Then, I sold it at another CeX store a couple of miles away.

That phone probably is worth £1000, but buying it for 550 then selling it for that is shitty, they could pay 700 for it and still make 300 profit.

I remember hearing you talk about that. I think the only good thing CeX have going for them is that they have tonnes of old games and DVDs. Those things are going to be pretty important moving forward into the future.

I mean apart from selling your old stuff to them for cash is concerned. they'll probably lowball you anyway.

That phone probably is worth £1000, but buying it for 550 then selling it for that is shitty, they could pay 700 for it and still make 300 profit.

I just noticed that!! Yes, its pretty egregious but they know it will sell.

This is how all pawn shops work, buy low and sell at current market value, usually close to a 100% markup, obviously you can list on sites like eBay, GT etc and get close to the current market value yourself if you get a buyer and don't mind waiting, try not to get scammed etc though if you want quick cash then you go to CEX, their 2 year warranty is definitely worth it however, have bought some RAM sticks from them in the past that died close to the end of warranty, sent them back and got a full refund of what I paid for them at the time which is ridiculous as after 2 years with higher capacities and faster speeds etc they probably weren't worth half of that, but who am I to complain, same with a tablet I have bought from them, so there are pro's and con's, I think buying from them has more pro's even if you are paying the same or slightly more than the used market just for the 2 year warranty alone

A lot of the high end new phones are unwanted upgrades, so they probably just want quick cash anyway.

Also as point of note - I can still SMELL the foul odour of CeX in my nostrils even though its been almost 12hrs since I was last there. Absolutely disgusting.

Well the way they always make their profit is the trade in for in-store credit to offset the cost difference for someone to purchase their stuff.
Which was also Game&Game station main selling point as well but...now its not and as much as people bash Game.
They always somehow get the "contract" to sell special editions for whatever new game gets released, but other than that it is a shame to see the state its in now.

I blame online stores, and our own, lazy, fat asses for that. It's sooo much more convenient to buy games without having to leave the house... until the internet is down, or the online store goes defunct.
