Great start on a collection there! The GTX770 and GTX680 are fun to benchmark and compare since they are very similar cards.

Yeah, good point there. Though usually when I buy something online (or second hand), I usually know what I'm getting so it's a pretty rare scenario that I'll be disappointed of my purchase :laugh: But sometimes surprises happen when buying something uncommon in both negative and positive ways...

Damn I remember all the hype about this cooler. ASUS P2B Rev 1.02 and the fresh custom SL35E I had a P2B on my first custom PC. First I had a P2-400 @ 450, then I flashed its bios and got a P3-500 @ 575. Good times.

I almost forgot, I'm planning on rebuilding my 2005 PC, its motherboard died and I have kept the RAM and CPU from it. RAM is working, haven't checked the CPU yet. CPU is Athlon 3000+ Venice core, 2x512MB Geil DDR400 and GeForce 6600GT. I had a Gigabyte model, but this MSI looks good too.

Forgot to check the GPU VRAM, but it seems like it's the 1.6ns version since it is apparently stable at 1230MHz. Core is a bit more average at 540MHz.

Next on my retro to do list is a ~2005 build as well. Either socket 754 or 939 That brings back some memories.

So I'm rifling through my old parts looking for a suitable baseline to start my next retro build for AGP cards, going through cases, boxes of boards, cpu's etc, and I find a video card I didn't even know I had for the collection.

Gigabyte FX 5700 256M

I start adding it to the catalogue and it dawns on me the list is quite long and I should take a count... over 100 video cards now. Some say I have a problem, but a collector never stops collecting! still so many models I could name that I want to add to that list.

Get a new fan, cut the new fan diameter on the plastic shroud, drill on the cooler alu base, (3...depends) new holes for a new fan if it has 3 support points/nuts, done.

Alternatively you could source a reference 7800GS heatsink. As far as I can tell from the backside of your card, the screws' ground planes match those of a 7800GS.

Yeah, I've got prob maybe 50 cards, and mine all come boxed with their original retail packaging, so a lot of room is needed. Lucky I built a big shed outback : )

I also collect Sega Mega Drive games as it was one of my favorite consoles when I was like 12 years old and probably have close to 600 game's. Going for the full list. Has been ongoing on for 10 years + now...

And yes, I (we) have a problem : )

I got a HUGE load of stuff today, but I'll post the rest of those later. This was probably the best of those.

And I know it's missing its VRM heatsink, I'll figure something out (I hope that P6X58D-E's heatsink fits), the CPU is an i7-960. Of course it will have the X5675.

Though it's not listed on Asus' supported CPU list, it still supports i7 9xx sixcores, so I must test at least.
edit: The RAM is 3x4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 kit

What a collection! I'm short on space so it's basically cards only bar a couple that came in original boxes, and my personal semi recent purchases like a GTX 1080 and RTX 3080 with box.

I've bought bulk anti static bags, and then big rugged stackable tubs from a hardware store. If you guessed that the collection lives under my bed... You'd be right

How's 1600x1200? I had a 21" HP Trinitron, 1600x1200 @ 85Hz (which is the minimum for me with a CRT to not get a headache)

Found this 775i65PE this Sunday... a bit limited CPU wise but it's a neat 775+AGP combo. There's a 631 Cedar Mill under that heatsink.

Not sure whether to build the AGP counterpart to my 939 Manchester A64 4600+ x2 build w/4GB of RAM (yes, 4GB worth of DDR1!) or just settle for something simple w/ HD3450 AGP.

That would be the chipset limitation if I remember right... (P4M800 Pro, the bane of my existence...) - I would ditch DDR2 and go with a 865 based 775 mobo depending on the CPU used - if C2D/C2Q is your plan, ConRoe865PE or 775i65G rev 2 and 3 would be suited. If instead you plan on using a Cedar Mill/Presler CPU, look for about any retail mobo w/ 865PE that sports a 775 socket. (there are plenty of choices from what I can see - there's even a DFI Lanparty flavor in that regard)
