Not sure if it's amazing or sad how well X58 has aged in the last 10 years. The joy of monopolies...

Definitely ended up being an incredible investment for you.

Yeah I had no idea back then for how long X58 cut stay relevant to this day. Been on x58 for 10 and a half year now and expected it to last 4 years and 6 years ad most back then. But for sure not over 10 years. Way better investment than I cut ever had dream about.

That's a great looking rig now, man i can't show how mine looked ,it was amazing comedy, like worse case scenario, that didn't end well.
I looked back through my pics saw it and thought nope, not showing.

Don't be shy, I shared my pc even throw cable management looked like garbage.

So show us your old nightmare...

sorry...never meant it as a bar to be set. Was the first I saw with an 09 date on it.
I've added two because from afar it doesn't look so bad:D

it got fungul aids from my crappy weird homemade res and nearly killed stuff so it did improve a bit soon after ,but for comedy.

Gee - That was a long time ago and hard to recall exactly what it was due to all the different configs I've had over the years but the basics I do remember more or less.

Asus A8N32 SLI-Deluxe Socket 939
Opteron 180
OCZ Platinum 2-3-2-5 / 4GB's
PC Power and Cooling 750W "Silencer" PSU

All the rest I don't recall but that's the basics and yes, I still have all of what's listed in working order.

Dell XPS 630i, I don't really remember the exact spec but it was Intel/nvidia based with 8GB of ram and 1tb of vram. Ran Crysis ok at 720p lol. I was mostly a console gamer that thought bestbuy had the best PC back then.
1TB of VRAM? You rig an HDD to your GPU? ;)

I was rocking a Pentium MMX 233 Mhz with 128 MBs of RAM (PC-66 or PC-100, I don't remember which one), S3 Trio 64V2 on-board GPU (can I call that an IGP, since it's not inside the CPU?), a Crystal Sound Card, a 4 GB IDE HDD and a CD drive :D...

I didn't play almost any games in those days, so I wasn't exactly looking for a lot of power. Not that my budget at the time would have allowed it anyway

More precisely, it was a HP Vectra VE5 PC. Last I checked (a couple years ago), it still worked...

I still keep its original keyboard around, since I found it to be rather comfortable.

Yeah, the PC photo looks horrible. I took it with a Nokia 5130 XpressMusic on December 2011...

In 2009 I was rocking a..

E8600 ES, Q6600, Q9550, X3360 Ultra120 Extreme/2x 120x38 Panaflo
Rampage Formula
4GB G.Skill PC8500/Ballistix/Various other D9's
WD Raptor 150, possibly x3, but could have been x2
XFX GTX 295, I want to say a 285, but I had 2, and a 4890, I want to say XFX.. while 295 was out for RMA, little hazy
PCP&C Silencer 750, but could have been a Toughpower 650 for part of the year.
Stacker STC-01

But then towards the end of that year I moved to a 965XE ES, UD7, 6gb ADATA XPG,, then a i7 970 a couple months later.. Then a R3F, x5690, Hypers, PSC, BBSE, a 570, then another, then a 580, and another, then I had kids. Haven't done much since. Got a hand me down pc 2 years ago, replaced my 580s with a 970, and a 980 last winter, a pair of ssd's last summer, and there's my 10 years give or take a couple of 850w PSU's along the way. And some cases, and other stuff :D

Some kind of Dell with a 1.8GHz Pentium 4, it was okay considering that my games didn't require much power.
Didn't get my own dual-core until I upgraded to a Satellite L500D in 2010.

Gosh id have to go back through everything to find exactly what I was running but at a guess it would of been:

AMD Phenom II 965
Gigabyte Mobo AM3 of some kind
8GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Dominators
850W Corsair HX PSU
Crossfire 4870X2
C4 Case
Seagate 500GB HDD
Windows XP (maybe) or just got onto W7

I did use my 939 Rig for along time but most likely retired it in 2009

Edit: Well then again maybe I was still rocking my 939 System going by this old Video I did back in 2010 hmmm

Oh gosh. 2009 rigs.
Cpu
Agena Phenom 9850 x4 Black Edition. (Agena Core) (my first de-lidded soldered cpu actually)

Good OCing times, you could buy a terrible CPU and OC the living daylights out of it. I remember getting over 100% OC on that pos e2140 on air. I wish I could get 10 on my ryzen.

I'm still rocking my 939 to this very day. The only reason I have kept upgrading it, is because it has very special 1GB ram (X4) that is able to do 2-2-2-5 timings & the FX-60 can do 3.1GHz+ with P95. This is why some modern games works very well here. I'm going to try & upload a photo of it to this thread as it has Matrix Orbital Touchscreen & high end bluray drive (import from japan).
